LS-Powered Lamborghini Huracan Off-Roader

LS-powered Lamborghini off-roader ripped up the desert until a hard landing injured its passenger.

It’s only been roughly a month since we saw the world’s first LS-powered Lamborghini Huracan off-roader – dubbed “Jumpacan” – receive its finishing touches and go for its very first test drive. Now, this week’s Track Time Tuesday presented by Nitto Tire shows the Lambo – built by Chris Steinbacher of the YouTube Channel B is for Build – heading out for a proper rip at the Mint 400 track in Las Vegas.

Over the last eight months or so, Steinbacher has transformed a run-of-the-mill supercar into something far more interesting, and way more capable off-road. The LS-powered Lamborghini rips off sandy drifts and big jumps with ease in the highly entertaining video below, courtesy of not only its high-powered powerplant, but also a long-travel suspension, big meaty tires, and mods that make it more of a trophy truck than an Italian exotic.

Jumping the car at high speeds seems like a great way to truly test the Lambo, as well as break anything that’s likely to break. Steinbacher starts off slow, however. “I’m not going to try and push the vehicle to its limits, but I’ll just comfortably see what the end of some of the gears is looking like,” he says. “It’ll definitely be the fastest I’ve ever gone in this car.” True to form, he gets up around 100 mph with ease.

The car feels stable at those speeds, so Steinbacher decides to up the ante a little. Moving on to the bumpy “whoops” section of the track reveals the car’s apparent Achille’s heel – it’s a little too low, and the skid plate-less undercarriage takes the brunt of the impacts. After fixing what broke, Steinbacher moves on to some small jumps, which the Lambo completes with ease.

All those little jumps do is make Steinbacher want more. “We decided to jump one more jump before we pack it in,” he said. “We drove all the way here, we should hit a really big jump.” Unfortunately, this grand finale didn’t end well, and the car landed rather hard, which injured the back of Steinbacher’s buddy that was riding along.

Luckily, the injury wasn’t too severe, but now it’s back to the drawing board to figure out how to make this wicked Huracan better at soaking up those types of landings.
