LS-Swapped 2000 Chevy S-10 Xtreme

The builder of this cool LS-swapped Chevy S-10 Xtreme shares a number of helpful hints after he encounters several issues.

The Chevy S-10 has long been a popular LS swap candidate, as the beloved compact pickup can be made pretty darn quick with the right powerplant and suspension mods. We’ve seen that much time and time again, and we’re seeing it yet again with this very cool LS-swapped 2000 Chevy S-10 Xtreme project from YouTuber WatchJRGo, or John Ross as he’s known in the real world. However, he’s run across a few snags in that process, and made this video to help others that may be contemplating doing the same thing.

Ross is using Holley’s special swap kit on this Chevy S-10 Xtreme, which undoubtedly makes the job a lot easier. It also helps t0 pick up some other select parts including the heater box, and he’s able to run factory coil packs on this particular application as well. Ross also points out that those tackling this job will also want to purchase Holley’s steering shaft, which provides enough clearance for a set of headers without cutting everything up.

One of the more important takeaways, as Ross points out in this video, is that using truck parts – wherever possible – can save people a ton of money when it comes to LS-related stuff. He then goes over all the accessory drive components and the little things that can make or break a job like this, critical stuff for anyone considering this precise swap.

Ross is building this particular Chevy S-10 Xtreme specifically for LS Fest Texas, and he has a pretty tight deadline to finish the job (isn’t that always the case with automotive TV?), but we’re digging what he’s done so far. In just a week, he’s gotten a lot done on this build, starting with a truck that was in pretty nasty shape with loads of surface rust. Of course, we’re sure he’ll finish things up before the big event, but it’s always fun to watch a good project come together with a looming deadline, and that’s also the case with this helpful build.
