Mecum Glendale

Over nearly 40 years Michael Brown collected some of the most coveted Corvettes and neon signs. Now you can buy them at Mecum Glendale.

Like a lot of us Michael Brown was bitten by the car bug at an early age. He got his drivers license just a few months after the 1963 Corvette split window coupe was released.

He was hooked from that moment on. By 1985 he was finally able to realize his dream and purchase a Corvette. That was the beginning of The Hooked on Vettes Collection.

Over the next nearly 40 years Brown would add more and more historic Corvettes to his collection. At the same time, he also collected an impressive array of neon signs. The time has come for Brown to part with his collection and he has decided to do it by offering his prized possessions for no reserve at the upcoming Mecum Glendale auction.

The Mecum Glendale auction is held in Glendale, Arizona at State Farm stadium. The bidding opens March 16 and ends on March 19. Brown will be auctioning off a baker’s dozen of Corvettes. The oldest is a 1954 Corvette Roadster and the newest is a 2020 C8 Z51 coupe.

In between, there is at least one example from every Corvette generation save the C4 and C5. The Hooked on Vettes Collection also includes a jaw-dropping selection of neon signs. More than 120 mostly original and expertly restored porcelain neon signs will be up for grabs.

Corvette Highlights

With 13 Corvettes from the collection going across the block at Mecum Glendale it is tough to pick a favorite. Brown is a top-notch collector so nothing in his collection can be considered ordinary. The 1954 Corvette Roadster being offered is just one of four 1954 models painted in black. Of course, that car doesn’t even have a V8, let alone an LS.

But plenty of LS power will be auctioned off from the collection. That includes the supercharged LS9 in the 2012 ZR1 and the 7.0L LS7 in the 2006 Z06. There is also an LT4 with barely 1,000 miles on it nestled inside a 2015 Z06. No matter which Corvette you have your sights set on, you will bring home a top tier example if you are the winning bidder on any of these.

Neon Signs

Picking a favorite Corvette out of the Brown collection is hard enough. But picking a favorite sign from the 120+ being offered for sale is basically impossible. However, the good news that like the cars, every neon sign is a first-rate example.

There are dozens of Corvette signs, so you can hang a new sign over your new purchase if you are lucky enough. But if a Corvette is not your thing that is OK because Brown has you covered.

There are signs for Route 66, Texaco Motor Oil, Michelin Tires, Ford, Pontiac, and so much more. If you are a fan of automotive art, then there will be something in this collection that you will want.

There is a lot here and it is all at no reserve so you could score the deal of the century. OK, that is probably unlikely, but you may be able to buy something that you will not be able to find anywhere else.

If you want to add a car or some art from The Hooked on Vettes collection you need to register here.
