Chevrolet Camaro at OC Auto Show Home

This month we got to see the sixth-gen Camaro in the flesh at the OC Auto Show. If you’ve been on the fence about the Alpha Camaro’s styling, go see it in person when it comes to your neck of the woods. I thought it looked better in person, and I think many will agree with me on that one. In the meantime, enjoy the Camaro SS shots we have in the gallery at the bottom of this post.

In other news, we got to experience the V-Series Cadillacs at the Willow Springs MPG Track Days earlier this month. Among all the cars I sampled that day at Big Willow, the Cadillac ATS-V had the best-feeling platform. Its eight-speed automatic was crap in automatic mode, though — downshifts were delayed when I would ease back on the throttle after an apex. The ATS-V is basically an E46 BMW M3 successor with a Cadillac crest. A car like it deserves a manual transmission. Case closed.

The eight-speed in the CTS-V wasn’t crap, however. It downshifted when I wanted. The car is great on the open road, but it’s bouncy on bumpy stretches. Get it on the track, and the 200-mph Cadillac smiles at you by offering the sensation of shrinkage … the type of chassis shrinkage we all can get behind. The 6.2L V8’s 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque do their parts to make the CTS-V feel smaller, too. It wasn’t that long ago that 600 ponies would turn a car into Charles Manson. Nowadays, that amount of power is as essential as glaze on Thanksgiving ham. Happy eating in the gallery below.
