Midwest Drift Union – Streets of Detroit
Last year during the Woodward Dream Cruise weekend, the Midwest Drift Union held a Formula Drift ProAm round and it was popular enough that it was brought back for a second year during the cruise.
Historic landmark, amazing backdrops, insane driving, and of course LS engines made up this year’s Streets of Detroit round of the Midwest Drift Union.
It really is one of those amazing, grassroots events. Not only do most of these guys don’t have much of a budget but they are doing it to try to earn their chance for a Formula Drift License.
If you are unfamiliar, to earn a 2015 Pro2 license in Formula Drift you have to place within the top 3 in points in your ProAm in 2014. So, add that pressure along with the pressure of having a huge crowd from the Woodward Dream Cruise and drifting on a street circuit, which no other ProAm does that I recall, and you get one amazing event.
