Twin-Turbo LS 1964 Chevrolet Nova SS As Found on Craigslist

Chevy Nova with a twin-turbo LSX makes for a mean street machine.

Early three-box Chevrolet Novas can be hard to find, but this ‘64 Nova SS looks right up our alley. With a pair of turbos feeding a 5.3-liter Vortec V8, this rust-free Nova in Cheyenne, Wyoming, gives off an understated street machine style that we love. With the hood closed, it looks like a lightly modified Nova, but we suspect that it might drop some jaws from the stoplight.

Under the hood, as mentioned, the 5.3-liter truck engine lurks with an LS6 intake and an LS1 throttle body, according to the seller. We can’t miss the pair of turbos shoving air into the engine. We’re not sure what kind of turbos they are, but our reading comprehension could be muddied a bit by the giant block of impossible-to-read text. Public service announcement: Make a bulleted list of your car’s mods. Sellers can read that easier than a giant block of poorly punctuated text.

Back on topic, the parts list is extensive for the engine alone, which is wired with a Swap Specialties kit. Ah, there’s the turbo specs buried in there. They’re 67-millimeter CX Racing turbos and they have run as high as 18 psi, apparently. With E85, the seller says the car should make up to 1,100 horsepower and run 9 seconds in the quarter-mile. That’s a bold claim since the car has “not gone down the track yet,” but the seller is probably not wrong, either.

The eight-point rollcage should make it NHRA-legal to 9 seconds, as well. A TH350 transmission backs up the engine with a classic T-style floor shifter. We’d love to see this thing running hard and we would even believe it’ll run 9s. The seller is asking $30,000 for the Nova; what’s a 9-second classic in good condition worth to you?
