Watch Guy Fieri Sell Flowmaster Mufflers Years Before Flavortown Was Built
Long before he built his food-related empire, Guy Fieri was peddling Flowmaster mufflers in commercials.
Among the many famous celebrity chefs we see on TV today, Guy Fieri is undoubtedly one of the most well-known entities. With a signature spiky, bleach blonde hair cut and plenty of memorable taglines, Fieri has become the literal face of Food Network, starring in countless shows like Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, in which he notably drives a first-gen Chevy Camaro to various restaurants. Fieri’s name is also plastered on quite a few restaurants these days via licensing agreements, but before he made it big in food – creating his proverbial “Flavortown” – Fieri was hawking Flowmaster mufflers.
Fieri starred in a couple of Flowmaster commercials back in the late 2000s, just before striking it big in the food world, though the company didn’t bother to mention his name – mostly because, well, he wasn’t a household name just yet. The man himself is also a bit more subdued in this particular clip, merely reading off his lines rather than getting in our faces with his eccentric style or firing off the one-liners that have made Fieri what he is today.
“Boy these look like they’re Flowmasters, but they’re not,” Fieri says while holding a competitor’s muffler in the short clip. “Don’t be fooled with these imitations – the quality is not there for extreme durability, maximum horsepower, and torque. Flowmaster delivers true American-built performance. We’ve got patented technology like no other – it’s built into every Flowmaster muffler. Always American-made, so you know you’ve got real American performance. Be sure to get what you paid for – make sure it’s stamped Flowmaster right in the case.”

Aside from the fact that it’s rather humous to see Fieri hawking mufflers in the first place – after all, every star has to start somewhere, we suppose – there’s also a shiny red fourth-generation Camaro in the background, which is clearly ready for some Flowmaster mufflers to unleash its pure American sound. These days, it’s no surprise that Flowmaster is happy to remind us of the fact that before Flavortown was built, Guy Fieri was one it its spokespeople – and we imagine, working at a far cheaper rate than the eccentric host goes for today.
