We Absolutely Need this C7 Corvette Kart

C7 Corvette Offroad Mad Max Style Death Kart Build

Salvage title C7 Corvette sees new life as an exoskeleton open-air, off-road beast fit for a Mad Max movie. Now, we want one too.

It’s always nice to see a salvage Corvette see new life. Though, not everyone is going to be a fan of the route this one went. It’s becoming more and more common to pick up a cheap crashed car at an insurance auction, take all the body panels off, and turn it into a go-kart-Esque party machine. In fact, it has already been done a couple of times with Corvettes.

This C7 Corvette is appropriately named the “Mad Max C7.” Mike Mauhdi is the owner, and we think we’d get along quite well with this guy. The car’s Instagram account follows its evolution from a sad has-been C7 into an offroad ready beast. The Drive even declares that it may be the best thing ever to come from Alabama. Though, some Crimson Tide fans may have a few words to say about that.

It seems the first adjustment Mauhdi made was to cut away at the rear quarters to fit the new tires. While the front has no fenders and would easily the knobby new off-road ready rubber, the rear needed a fair amount of adjustment. Interestingly enough, the front maintains pretty standard tires. Though, they are extremely wide. While the rear tires seem all wrong for a Corvette, something about them looks just right on this wild build.

After the body modifications came, well, more body modifications, the doors are no longer part of the equation here. Additionally, a full exoskeleton roll cage links the front, rear, and various anchor points around the chassis. That should reinstate some of the confidence of the driver that was removed with the doors, we’d think. Though self-preservation may still come into play when things start moving fast, and you’re exposed to the elements. This is especially likely in an off-road scenario. Things could get hairy quick if you aren’t careful!

From what we can tell, the engine is still stock. There are a couple of exhaust clips on the Instagram account, but no mention of power upgrades. We can imagine, though, that the stock 455 horsepower is more than enough to scare yourself in something like this. It’s probably an absolute madhouse to drive.

This is an ongoing build, and we will definitely be watching it. We think it’s pretty awesome. Hopefully, we’ll get to see some videos of it shredding through some mud and sand soon! Overall, we have to applaud this beast despite its controversy. This thing is too cool to stay mad at.
