Default Last runs before H/C/I setup and....O So close!!!!

Well I am only weeks away from taking the motor and tranny out for my new Heads, Cam, and LS6 intake along with a built trans. So I went out with the guys to the local track and was in hope of hitting the 12.99! So close but couldn't quit get it..

98 Camaro
65 degrees
headers, borla, 3800 stall, and mt et streets only mods.

Reaction: .2212
60ft: 1.7462
330ft: 5.3
1/8ET: 8.3
1000MPH: 95.5
1/4ET: 13.1
1/4ET: 102.7

SOOOO close! Tried removing filter, spare, tools, jack, anthing I could think of but in the end I could never get her to hit a 12.99. If only I had the LS6 intake now instead of later haha. I may try and run it with the intake B4 I do the swap just to see. Gears kept my trap low I would guess. O well. I love the 60ft!!!

Your 60' doesn't look horrible but your MPH does. 102.7??? Thats stock numbers. I'm guessing your still on the stock tune? Or something is seriously wrong.

I was wondering the same thing guys. But you have to take a couple things into account here. First off mine is a 98 so I have 2.73's!!!! Also I have the stock LS1 intake! My car is also lowered and performing on hypertech 3 settings only!

I am going to put the LS6 intake on and the 3.73 gears in the next couple weeks. I should see a half second from the gears alone!!! Add in the intake and there ya go!!!

13.1
-.5 gears
-.3 intake
= 12.3 ET give or take! We will see what the diffrence is. If it gets me that close to 11's though I may do an underdrive pully and a few things here and there so I can say I did it all bolt on. IDK.

And dont forget that if I could even lower my 60ft to a 1.6.....I could shave another 3 tenths!!!!

Just because your car is a 98 does not mean you have 2:73's and i don't think gear's are going to take off half a second.

I Called and checked with GM with the VIN.....Trust me....thats what they are. And yes...going from a 2.73 to a 3.73 is @ a .5 off the ET. Not to mention the LS6 intake will make an impact as well. Some people do research before they ask ?'s.

What's the elevation of your local track?

I'm running 12.5s with some traction issues with the mods in my sig. This setup is capable of 12.2 to 12.3 with a good launch. I'm trapping 109 mph. I ran 12.9s @ 107ish before the stall. The 2.73 gears will only be a couple of tenths slower than 3.23 gears. (I've had both in previous fbody cars).

My track elevation is near sea level.

OK, well I think you are missing the mans point. Its not that your car is a 98, and thats the only reason you have 2.73s, thats just the option you have. Buddy has an 02 just like mine, but i had 3.23s stock, and he still has his 2.73s, its not the year that matters. Also, i have 3.90s in my car and i shaved half a second, so dont swear by a mod and how much it will do, unless you know from your own experience and from your car, not your buddies. I just dont like people wswearing by things because of what someone elses car did.

x2 your car being a 98 has nothing to do with you having 2.73's. And gears and ls6 intake isn't going to knock off .8 tenths lmao. gears will do like .3 but the intake won't do much at all, maybe not even a tenth.

^ I know I have the 2.73's.....thats not even an issue here. I did the rpm test and at 90mph im still under 3k!!! But I check things more than one time so I put the car up on stands...marked the yoke and the rear end along with the inside of my wheel. I then turned the tire exactly 1 revolution and wached how many times it turned....Exactly just over two and a half times!!!

Were not talking about maybe going from a 3.42 gear to a 3.73...were talking a freaking Highway set of 2.73's to an auto hungry perfect match 3.73! And considering...I am pretty freaking proud of nailing a 1.7 60ft with those gears at a horrible track!

As for the intake...puting the LS6 on is not where I am expecting the power to come from. It is the combo of my headers, borla, maf, lid, and everything else that will breath better because of the intake and not just the intake itself.

Bottom line...Im putting the 3.72's in.....putting the intake on....and getting my ET Streets hot...and I will run a mid 12! And I think it would be kinda funny if I do it with a low trap. haha.

I hope you run a mid 12 with those mods. Your trap just seem way too low for your mods. It's going to be very hard with that low trap.

The trap will change. put 2.73's in your car. 2.72 to a 3.72 is an enire extra turn!!!

I have to say autos with a stall, the trap speeds can be wierd, look at my Firehawk sig., and thats with 3.73's, guys with m6's and stock 3.42's seem to run 3-7 mph faster at 12.45 et...BTW make sure you do the free mods, it will definately help the LS6 intake..

With your mods, you should be pulling mid 12's easy, 2.73s or not. BTW, what is the RPM test? Is that where you have it in like 3rd gear at 70 and see what rpm you are turning?
