OK guys here it goes. This car is well more than most will need to run 12s. I'm in Denver Colorado so 5800 feet. Density altitude often goes above 10000 and rarely below 7500.

The car is a 91 Camaro rs weighs 3690 with me in it. 8 point cage for interior and a racing bucket for driver. Pass seat is stock and rear back rests are deleted bottoms are still in cause they weigh little and keep my helmet from flying around LOL.

Motor is an lq9 6.0 bored to 408. It has comp cans xer287 cam kit. So the springs and such to work with it.
Stock ls6 heads and intake with 85mm throttle body. 1 5/8 long tube headers threw 3 inch side pipes. No cats just a flowmaster muffler.
175 shot of Nos that was not sprayed just hanging out for later this summer.
Car has 422 rwhp and 426 rwtq

Transmission is a t56 with a diamond stage 3 clutch. I use a mad 2 step launch control for launches.

Rear end is a strange s60 with 4.10 gears and a spool

Wheels and tires are race star 15x8 rear and 15x3.5 front Mickey Thompson ethynol street radials rear 275/60/15 and m/t sportsman up front. As a side not I have been informed my rear tires are wrong for my manual car and should be bias ply.

Suspension is spohn torque arm jegs lower control arm bmr lca relocation brackets an I have 50/50 rear shocks and 70/30 fronts from Lakewood.

On the 12.87 run I launched at 4700 rpm and shifted at 5800. I will be trying launching at 5500 and shifting at 6100 and will report back.

Looking for 11s on the spray next month. Should be easy.
Hope this helps someone.

9000ft Jeezsh I'm guilty of whining about 2500ft! Nice setup you've got there but wouldn't it do better shifting higher than 5800?

You should be shifting at 6500ish. I shift my stock LS1 at 6k. GL whats that MPH at sea level?

on the dyno it broke up around 6k to 6100 the tuner said 6500 is a no go till i get heads and an intake on there. yes it will be faster shifting at 6100 for sure and launching at 5500 will help 60 foot as long as it will hook.

thanks so much guppy im real happy with it.

I ran your times through the DA calculator at dragtimes.com, assumed race date of Aug 10th, 9000ft DA. Your times convert to 11.4 @ 120.6 at sea level, good job!
I think if I lived at your altitude I'd have to run boosted to compensate for the lack of air.

thanks guppymech. i have nitrous but am still feeling the car out before i turn that on. that will be my cure for altitude down the road. 11.5 was my goal for this year im pretty sure if i spray 100 hit im there. 10.0 is the goal for next year all at this wonderfull altitude.

update on times.
i ran a 12.85 and a 12.95 in time trials on saturday. then the tires went away and i started blowing the tires off out of the hole. sunday was the same first time trial it wheel hopped real bad. i stayed in it and got a 2.0 60ft and a 13.0 next two runs they blew off and i ran a 2.4 60ft the next two runs.

i highly recommend different tires for a manual car. im trying to narrow it down right now. i have torn up the sidewalls in these in just 26 runs. i have not even reached the wear bars yet. in m/t defense they also highly recommend not running these on manual cars i just somehow missed that before i bought them.

update after super chevy

ran a slew of 12.8 and 12.9 passes and a few 13.0x runs.
new best is 12.81 at 108
still having a ton of trouble hooking the car up consistently.
all the runs in the videos below were at 15 psi cold pressure 4900 msd 2 step launch

current plan of attack to fix this is to go to 28x10.5x15 et drag and turn on my nitrous jetted at 100hp. these runs are all motor runs

couple videos for your viewing pleasure

this is the 12.81 run

12.90 run

12.94 run

well as an update.

i switched to mickey thompson et drag bias ply slicks in 28/10.5/15

they hook like a dream. my best time is still the 12.81 but i am now deadly consistent in the 12.8 - 12.9 range. 60 foot times dont change much at all.

now it is time for more power.

planned upgrades in the next few weeks are
2 inch headers
dual 3 inch cut outs
new rear section of my exhaust
and of course turn on 125 hp shot of nitrous.

the headers and exhaust will be somwhere around a month or so out the nitrous and cut outs are a this week kind of plan.

ill update once i get the spray turned on should go 11s pretty easy

its been running solid consistent 12.7 to 12.8 for the past few weeks. when it gets real hot ill hit a 12.9. getting very predictable.

i did run last night and the air was very cool. it went 12.63 at 110 and 12.65 at 109.7.
