German Castrol 0w-30?
- One was marked Energy Conserving, and made in NJ or whatever.
- One was definitely made in Germany, and the correct one.
- The third was a "hybrid" - It looked like the German bottle, but it didn't have the official "Made In Germany" tag on it. It was NOT Energy Conserving.
I had to buy some of these "hybrid" ones, and they were the same funky green color as the regular German made stuff.

You've just spotted some of the very latest stuff then, which I had heard was being made here, but to the same German specs, so it's still good stuff! I'm definitely interested in seeing pics of that newest stuff!!
The key is to find the ones which have the good specs on it such as Porsche approved, ACEA A3, BMW Longlife and the MB and VW specs.

The 0w30 Syntec is indeed fully synthetic though, except for the earlier stuff which was made in the USA. But the German stuff and the newest stuff made here is indeed fully synthetic, but the rest of the Syntec lineup is not.

Apparently I was a little wrong here... the bottle DOES say, "Made In Germany", just under the 0w30 marking - not the usual spot. I didn't notice that 'til right now.
The front of the bottle is also slightly different. If I remember right, the non-German stuff was even more different - like no green on the front label or something.
