I wish I knew how many were hard top M6's.
Pretty sure a hardtop Formula in Blue-Green Chameleon is pretty rare.
http://www.1le.net/hpp.html describes it. Trending Topics
There were 26 total Formula coupes (both T-top and hardtop) in Purple. There were 124 total Formula coupes (both T-top and hardtop) in Blue-Green Chameleon. If you tell me which of those two colors you actually have, I can calculate the approximate number of those which would be hardtop M6s.

I can't determine your original color from the VIN (although a GM dealership could using their database, it's not actually part of the VIN). I'd need your color code from the RPO sticker on the driver's-side door frame. If you don't know which is the color code, just post everything that it says on the sticker.
There may also be some other stuff at the top and bottom of the sticker, such as a few longer numbers, etc. There are some photos available online of what an RPO sticker looks like, don't have one on hand at the moment; but it should be pretty easy to spot.
No color stats for 1997, unfortunately. But here's a general rough estimate:
28% of Formula coupes in 1998 were black, so if it's a similar percentage in 1997, that'd be around 642 black non-WS6 Formula coupes in 97.
And if about 69.3% (also from 98) of those were A4, that's approximately 445 black A4 non-WS6 Formula coupes in 97.
