Throwing SS Badges on a Z28, wrong or right
+1, but State Farm DOES have an option for SS'es..on '02's, it will even ask if it is a "2002 Camaro 35th Anniversary SS" or a "2002 Camaro Limited Edition 35th Anniversary SS". I saw this when I insured/bought mine.
when even a bone stock LS1 smokes the holy hell out of him!
trailblazer, monte carlo, Camaro, Cobalt (WTF?), Chevelle, Silverado, Impala, etc....
but there's only ONE Z-28...
seems like the exclusiveness of the SS has becomes much less significant now...

Z28 is an option pkg, SS is a performance pkg.
So again every camaro SS is a Z28 just with more junk in the trunk, period end of story.
But a camaro Z28 is just a ******* camaro Z28.
Now everybody who thinks not go do your homework or just
please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The mustang vin shows if it is a 3.8 or a GT or a Cobra
2002 is the only year I see any real difference in the SS.
I am now less convinced that if I wanted to put SS on my Z28 that I need to buy a Z28 that already had SS on it.
If you don't car about original parts why would anyone pay 4-8k over what they could get the same car and put less than 1k in and be the same car?
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Its the RPOs that denote it as an SS. LOLOL
Read people. I've said it and a bunch of others have said it countless times in this thread.

SS is not a real trim package like Cobra or GT is for the Mustangs.
Its an option.

here is a decoder: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/rpo/index.php
These are 1998-1999 brochures.
Where is that info or were those dealer installed options?

I'm gonna have to call BS on that unless you can produce sales receipts showing where you've purchased an OEM SS hood and spoiler, 17" SS wheels, exhaust, differential, suspension components, etc. and had them painted / installed for under $1000. Sorry, I don't think so. If the SS badge means as little as you say it does, then why would you want to replace your Z28 badges in the first place?? It's like I said before:

This is why, because it Torsen is stadard on all Z28s with or without the SS package

Hood: someone already put the SS hood on the car It is not OEM nor would I want OEM if it was original on the car because this is a race car and I want weight reduction. the oem hood is heavier than the aftermarket and my hood fits perfectly.
Wheels: I already had the wheels before I even bought the car. I got them from a dealer and they were OEM takeoffs. $450 when I bought them
Spoiler: I just bought the spoiler that was part of my cost $500 already painted
exhaust: bullet mufflers off headers. If it had oem exhaust it would have been long gone.
Rear end: 12bolt Moser with spool. I don't know what differences there where in the diffs but the ten bolt is gone anyway.
Emblems: I just think the emblems complete the apperence package. I don't like it with Z emblems I don't like it badgeless. I like the emblems. I had to buy these I think they were around $25 each so thats $75.
So I spent $575 to complete it.
If I had not already had the wheels it would have made it $1075.
$575 is a lot less than $4000-$8000
If I had bought a car than already came with the SS package I could have probley sold the OEM hood and bought the aftermarket one and got a little money back out of it but whats that by the time I buy the aftermarket one like $300-$500.
Keep in mind I have cut this car up, it is my race car. Whats the point of spending all that extra just to cut it up?
There is just not enough diffence between the two to justify it.
