Because you first made a generalized statement that someone could convert their own Z28 into an SS for less that $1000. Then, after the fact, you tried to qualify your statement by saying "I meant in my case" and only then volunteered the info on the items you already had, like the hood and wheels, etc.

Just in case you forgot, here is what you said:

If you don't car about original parts why would anyone pay 4-8k over what they could get the same car and put less than 1k in and be the same car?

I did not mean for it to sound that way I am sorry but I did already mention I had those parts earlier. I guess I should have stated that again.

Yeah, I just missed it. Made an edit. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you dude, it's just that a lot of guys try to rationalize their "re-badging" when all they're really doing is being a poser. I honestly don't think this applies to your "race" car, because you couldn't turn around and sell it as a Camaro SS. I don't really consider what Jeff Gordon drives a real Monte Carlo either. It's a racecar.

But, what Tony said kinda sums it up:

Cars are BUILT with an identity, no amount of changing crap around on them makes them into something else. Those that do this stuff are POSERS.

I think I see what your saying.
Someone rebadges it and then when it comes time to trade it in they don't put the old badges back on then the dealer sells it to some unsuspecting person who takes no time to authenticate it and pays the extra $$ for nothing. And I am sure they probley don't tell the dealer it has been rebadged either hoping to get an extra buck out of it.

Or the try to fake it off and sell it outright to someone without telling them.

tell you what ss had like 13 hp more than the z28, maybe if lightning strikes it, so call me a posser, I personally got the hood and spoiler out of a junk yard, all genuine gm parts, repaired the hood, and put on ss badges on the fenders, because I like they way they look, but I left the z28 on the rear filler so when I pass someone they know it is only a lowly z28, lol, after my mods they should make an SSS badge because my car is levels above the "ss" chevy sold to people for so much more cash.

Heh I love dumb people. But anyways this is how I see it, if its your car and you plan to keep it then do what you want. But if you plan on selling it then dont! cause if I were new to the game and bought your car without checking the fine details. Id be pissed as hell.

Anyone who labels their car something its not is POSING.
Bottom line.

Posers are Posers.
It does not matter what reason you have them on there for, or why you think you need to justify it.
Saying its "not a big deal",or "people can do what they want on thier car" is just an excuse for you to leave them on there.
If I meet somebody at the track and they tell me its not a real SS/WS6, I will be forced to make fun of them.

I love my Z28. I don't want an SS, I never have and I never will.
I got a hood and rims going on my car, and I am proud that its a Z28.

You need to go back to history class. The Super Sport began with the '61 Impala and moved on to the Chevy II (Novas), and Chevelle (Malibus) before the Camaro Z28 ever existed. That is the legend and the heritage. And, that is what Chevrolet is trying to return to.

my point exactly, almost every model of chevy's have been a SS at some point, but only a camaro has ever been a Z28, im not hatin on SS's, im just sayin as far as camaro's go, the legend lies with the Z28, not the SS..the Camaro was the first and ONLY Z28....and i tell you what if you can find a history class that teaches that kinda history you let me know so i can sign up for it..your point is relavent but I know what SS stands for and i know the HISTORY behind it.
