Default Knowing a cam is wrong....while its in the engine already.....not knowing its specs..

So, I have a fully forged Callies crank/rods, Diamond pistons, 390ci. Built by AES. I had it shipped to my local engine builder to finish the heads, oil pump and to basically check to see if what I paid for was inside the engine. I also had him spec a boost cam for me and install it. He finished off the engine and its been in my car for 6 years now.

I called him today to ask him about the heads and if they were up to the task as-is for possibly upwards of 1,000RWHP with a Procharger, from when he fully rebuilt them 6 years ago for the new 390ci. He said the heads are all set to go.
BUT.....he cannot come up with the exact cam specs, he simply cannot find my info documents. But he said he absolutely put a cam in for boost because thats what the engine was built for and its what I wanted to do with it........

So, if I go ahead right now and move forward with installing an F-1A-94 Procharger kit will my tuner, while dyno tuning, know if the cam is the problem.....if there's a low power output issue? Without knowing any of the current cam specs right now. Or should we pull the cam out while the engine is sitting on the ground to install the BMR Turbo k-Member, and check all the cam specs to see if its exactly what we want in the engine?

I think this is an advanced tech question.......

Get out your dial indicator and degree wheel and measure lift at the lobe, then measure duration at .000 and .050. From there get your LSA, etc.

AES built the engine......I had a local shop here put the cam in and finish the top end. 6 years ago......he can't find my file and I lost all the paperwork too. He knew I wanted to build a 1,000RWHP kind of set up so he put in a cam for boost, so he said put the SC'er on and go for it........see what I make......

Pull the rear cover and check the numbers on the cam. If it isn't what's needed change it. Simple and btw do it yourself don't trust your"engine builder".

I don't do major stuff like pulling the tranny and changing cams. I don't even have a garage right now if I could do that kind of stuff, I live in a condo building. I have shops and a friend that works at a dealership that does all my stuff. I'm a novice.......even though I've been a member here, really, since 2000......LOL

Wouldn't you just love being on the receiving end of 2nd hand info??
Saw it on the net, tells his mechanic, mechanic tries it, doesn't work.
Back to the net.

Any cam is a boost cam. What's it make now? I'd worry more about getting the right blower than what the cam specs are. The blower is going to dictate how much power you can make, not the cam.
