i think they're popular becuase of their qulaity, customer service, and overall performance. they have a pulley for just about everything and they fit great, look great, and outlast/outperform most if not all others on the market.

will do, man. i'm going as fast as i can afford to, there's a lot of "lay off talk" around the shop where i work, so i'm kind of getting less worried about the car and more about my livelyhood...

BUT, on a more positive note, my new Moroso oil pan showed up today. It puts the Canton to shame as far as quality and appearance goes. i also went ahead and got the Remote filter mount as well, bringing the total to just a hair under $700 from Summit Racing for this f*%&ing oil pan. Granted, it came with a pickup & o-ring, windage tray, nuts i don't need, and STICKERS ()...but still seems a bit pricey. i think the Canton, a $450 pan, should be closer to $300 and this Moroso should be more around the Canton's price. i dunno where they get off charging over $600 for an oil pan, but it is nice as hell. the mounting flange is 3/8" CNC'd billet aluminum, the Canton has a rolled sheetmetal lip, thin as hell, probably .065" or so . The welds on the Moroso pan are lightyears more pleasing to the eye and the trap door baffle is a little more sound looking, construction-wise.

This pan is on its way to its new home, along with my ATI Super Damper and ARP balancer bolt, here's a few pics of the oil pan for the road...be sure to compare it to the other pics i posted of the Canton pan, i'll go ahead and take some side-by-side shots when i get out the my car. HOPEFULLY the next pics i post will be of a LSX 454 longblock sitting on a UMI K-member underneath a 2001 SOM SS....with Tick Performance level 3 T56 bolted up to it behind the Textralia ExoSkel triple disc clutch...

Yeah, it's a Sunoco, but i actually sold that locally to a buddy. it's now on a Hugger orange car with a black stripe down the middle, looks awesome. I don't have a hood right now, but will HOPEFULLY be picking up a VFN 3" SS hood, or possibly another Sunoco or even a "wide" Sunoco style hood.

917264, stock diameter, and i deleted the A/C pulley when i ordered , if you're in the market, get with 99blancoSS. we did an ATI group purchase recently and he MAY be able to hook you up. i'm pretty sure there were a couple pullies left over but i'm not sure which.

Moroso vs. Canton oil pan

Moroso
Better welds, construction, and overall design. CNC'd mounting flange. Needed an extra hold drilled on the mounting flange (last 2 pics above) and doesn't have a place for the oil level sensor. BIG BONUS: Windage tray only needed holes reamed to accomodate ARP studs and two washers for clearence, Oil pickup tube only needed same modification. Pickup to pan clearance was perfect out of the box, dead nuts on .290" (should be .250"-.300"). Also has magnetic drain plug and came with bigger sticker

Canton
Flimsy mounting flange, did not include windage tray or pickup. Welds good, but lacking visual appeal. Nice baffle design, all holes and sensor provisions accounted for. Price reflects what you get for your money with BOTH oil pans.

EDIT: After looking at the pictures, the Canton pan would also need a bolt hole drilled OR my LSX block and factory gasket have one extra hole...in the same place. i didn't have a stock pan to verify.
