Here's a problem i ran into, my 90* hose ends don't fit side by side like i was hoping. Nobody makes an extension to lower the rear fitting down where it will clear, so i had to order another straight -10 hose end to use on the oil pan. There isn't enough clearance between the block/pan and headers to clock the rear or front fitting enough to allow adequate clearance. Also, it's nearly impossible to get a wrench on the fittings, i may have to take the driver's side header out to finish my oil lines...

What about a 90* on a 45 with a 45 attached to it? Or will the other 90 just not fit up there with that one on?

There are what are called "Long 90°" fittings, I used several in the hydraulics on my rock buggy, but they're probably not aluminum.

Are you gonna do any mods to the FAST intake, like paint or filling in the crossover?

No man, it's TIGHT up in there. I'm just gonna use the straight hose end and zip-tie or clamp the two hoses together close to the pan....plus your idea would cost another $100

I'm still trying to decide, I can't figure out what color(s) to use.

What do you guys think about doing the intake and valve covers in flat white with black lettering?

Looks real good man ... love how clean it is. Not a huge fan of those valve covers; but it's your ride and you're doing it for you. Looks good though man.

And I'd keep the intake how it is. It looks good that raw color it comes because it matches with the covers and everything in that area.

I think it would look good white with black lettering. Maybe chromed valve covers with white intake and letterin on both in black. just a thought

i don't know what colors to use. I like how clean everything is now, but it just doesn't look right. if i paint/coat the valve covers, i'd rather not do chrome because i would have to sand them smooth and i want to leave them as-cast in case i don't like the color i go with and can strip them back down to their original condition/finish.

I may go with chevy orange valve covers and leave the intake alone. Black with orange lettering is becoming more and more like a realistic result, although i still don't really want to go with black.

It's looking like this weekend could be the weekend that the car makes some noise. it won't be driveable, but it may start. My TCI starter is on its way and i'm bound and determined to find a water pump. I finally verified that my fuel pump was working properly so the only thing missing is the H2O pump and starter. I've got to re-install the radiator of course, but that doesn't take any time, and refill all the fluids. My BMR alternator brakcet showed up yesterday, so i can get that on tomorrow when i go out to work on the car.

I still need guages and a pillar pod, brake calipers need powdercoated, need to buy a 104mm lid, decide on SD or MAF tune, do the TA brace and LCA bracket welding...the list goes on and on. If everything goes smoothly from here on out, the car COULD be done before Christmas...just in time for some crazy Missouri winter weather.

I would say since you have alot of black in the engine bay already i would go with a nice black with orange lettering on the intake and try the Chevrolet lettering in orange with the two lines that go across the covers in black? Just a thought

thanks man, i'll be sure to post numbers in here as well as the dyno section. I know a few of the sponsors/vendors that contributed to the car are wanting to see it done as well.

I bit the bullet today and ordered a polished Meziere electric water pump from New Era Performance. The starter is on but not without its issues. After a failed test fitment i realized i had to grind on my $640 oil pan to get the starter to clear. It was a pain, but i got it in there.

Factory fuel feed line is back in, with the "T block" port blocked off on one side so it can now serve as my return line. My alternator bracket is on. I made the fuel crossover for the fuel rails. i'm going to finish up wiring the relay tomorrow and i'll try to post some pics of the new parts. I may wait until the weekend anyway when the water pump is on.

Also, i picked up an Innovative LC-1 wideband sensor and red-faced DB guage. I need to get an A-pillar pod and a fuel pressure and coolant temp guage as well now.

Your car is looking nice, I can hardley wait to see the finished product. How do you keep from getting discouraged? My cars motor blew in early october and I'm already having thoughts that I will never have it running again lol.

I'd paint the intake a similar flat black that the throttle body is, and perhaps shave the WILSON but give color to the lettering. As far as the valve covers go, I'd do the same thing to them as the intake...I think it'd look wicked!

This is becoming more and more like the only option i see possible. Regardless of color choice, i will shave the "Wilson," "92mm," and the box around the FAST logo as well as the "Fuel Air Spark Technology" lettering...leaving only the F,A,S, & T, which i will go over in silver. So the end result will be flat black powdercoated valve covers with the bowtie and lettering still machine-polished like they are now with a flat black intake with silver FAST letters. Eventually, what i will have to do is replace my red & blue fuel fittings with black & nickel plated fittings and possibly even black hose.

Right now my biggest concern is what Autometer gauges to get that will match my LC-1 DB wideband gauge
