Default Guys help, I used maguiers quick wax and I think it damaged my paint

My budy brought some of this quick was over and it was about 16 months old and I figured it should still be fine so i used it---boy was i wrong. Without spraying any of it out to clear out the old wax I just sprayed it on my hood and it looks like it took my clear coat off. I have what looks like white haze blotches on my hood. It looks like the paint got burnt ( kind of like when u use windex on plastic). At low light levels the hood looks fine but when a good amount of light hits it; it looks like crap. The funny thing is that the hood is the only thing damaged. Do u think that since the hood is aftermarket fiberglass(suncoast creations)it reacted differently with the chemicals in the quick wax. My theory is since i did not clear out the spray line and i sprayed the hood first all of the chemicals settled in the spray line and in the bottom of the bottle and became to strong for the paint. If this occured what can be done beside re-painting it. I tried cleaner wax, clay bar, and wax but nothing helped. So any help would be apreciated.

I'm out

Dude, look on the spray bottle for their phone number or email address. I used some of their wheel cleaner once that left spots on my brand new rims, and they were able to help me out... they are good people!

what did they do to help you out? I have spots on my rims that seem pretty hard to get off without scrathing the rims up.

Joe, believe it or not, they actually recommended a product by a competitor. Mothers Mag wheel polish... worked like a charm. It comes in a small can.

What you used is probaly a quick detailer. It is not a full blown wax product. Just a product to remove bird crap and dust that has a little bit of wax in it. People use it to maintain their freshly waxed car.

I very very much doubt any harm was done. Your not really using the correct product to remove the wax. I would try dawn soap like I previously said, maybe even some clothes soap if you want to use something a little stronger.

I used mineral spirits to remove spray paint from my car, it's not harmful to the clearcoat but you shouldn't need to use it. You probaly just got some dried up junk from the bottle on your car, no big deal.

Ever hear of Klasse, BlackFire or just plain carnauba? All of these products are as friendly as Zaino and will provide you with a shine that your eyes will not beleive.
