Who thinks LS1 engines are UGLY?
I think LS1 engines are one of the ugliest engines around in stock form. So, here is my ultimate makeover
MTI 348ci LS6
Wiseco forged pistons
Lunati billet rods
stock LS6 crank
MTI stage 2R ported/polished LS6 heads
230/230 .591/.591 114 Comp Cam
Magna Charger custom "Hot Rod" supercharger kit
Agostino aluminum sheetmetal valvecovers (chrome plated)
ARP head studs
Beauty....AND performance

yep, for the '69. Boost will depend on alot of variables (cam, exhaust, heads, pulley size, etc...). I'm just looking more for a rwhp figure instead of boost value. Anything over 500 rwhp on pump gas would be fun. Then I'll spray it later (Muahahaha!)

Whats really funny is that this engine setup is what I've been dreaming about for over a year now. I actually bought the '69 just to put an engine like this into it. Most people buy a car they like, and then consider engine upgrades. I did this project backwards lol.
Taking the Pro-Touring style to another level....in performance! I'm bored with stock LS1 swapped cars that are slow

I dont like the valve covers myself. But, thats just personal preferance, i think the FRCs look better on LS1s or the C5R style ones.
That still is one badass looking engine. Hope it performs as badass as it looks. What'd you ever think about doing on the engine block, as far as painting it?

plastic FRCs over custom valvecovers? Yuck! Too generic for me
Not going to paint the engine, the aluminum blocks look more exotic in a classic car. If I painted it, people might mistake the engine for an iron block SBC or something. Its hard to tell it is an LS1 as it is.

Very nice Tony!! im working on that water pump for ya
Ive never thought the LS1 engine was ugly.. its more like the frumpy girl in HS that needs a makeover and with a little cosmetics is a knock-out
Oh, stock FRC's are icky as for shows but its amazing what can be done with an airbursh and some imagination.. Those valve covers you have go very well with the magnacharger.. call me if you want to take the bling up a notch or two
Good work, cant wait to see it done!!

Steve, I'm considering having the timing cover polished or chromed. I really don't want any red on the engine itself. All shiny aluminum or chrome is my theme. It should look like a jewel when the hood is popped .
Oh yeah, I have all stainless allen-head fasteners for the outside of the engine. If you look closely you can see the allen heads on the timing chain cover. The oil pan has them also, as will the water pump, throttle body, etc etc..
