Tried this mod today with mixed results. My first attempt failed as I cut too much off and it wouldn't fit properly. It was a $60 lesson that helped in my second attempt, which was more successful, but not quite perfect. There's a little gap between the molding and the body, but otherwise I got the fit on target. I don't know if these will help, but since the car will be lopsided until I get another piece for the driver side, I can compare splash patterns. I made a paper template which I hope will help with the replacement. Here are a few quick photos before I clean up.

That actually looks pretty freaking good! E-Mail me the full size pictures and I'll host them for you so we can all get a closer look. I think I might have to order some of these things up from PartsTaxi.

I wish someone would make them ready to put on, I don't trust myself to cut them.

For you drag racers out there... just grab some 2" Blue Painters tape made by 3m and go to town behind your tires. Wont leave sticky residue or do anything to the coatings on your car. Easy to tear and apply and easy to remove.

Looks good. When did you get black outs?

To throw my $.02 in the ring, wouldn't the easiest way to cut these be to simply trace the pattern of the bumper onto thing cardboard (hold it up as if were the splash guard and trace the fender/bumper line), cut it out and then trace the cutout onto the splash guard and cut the line?

The covers have been on for just a couple days now, actually. Now I'm paranoid about getting stopped.

That's what I did the first time: Created the stencil with the outline of the wheel well, so the shape was correct, but I cut off more than I should have. After seeing how it fit, it turns out you really don't need to cut a whole lot off, but you do need to get the curves right. Even with the stencil, it was trial and error because of the way the piece curves up and in. On the second piece, I drew in the stencil, but cut way short and made incremental cuts to get the fit right.

Here's a few more shots.

Here, you can see that the bumper isn't going to be completely protected since the TA bumper is way longer than the Corvette's. The splash guard would have to be lower off the body.

And from different angles.

Dont worry about the covers. Ive had them on since November and had cops behind me with no issues.

Why would it be illegal to have splash guards?

They will cause you to fail emissions...

They are referring to the tail light blackouts.
