Default No secondary hood latch= new windshield and sunoco

Well I had been running around for about 2 months now without a secondary latch on the bottom of my hood. Guess it was my lucky day when I left my house the other morning. Pulled out from the redlight at the end of my road brought her up to probably around 70mph and BOOM!! Damn I can't see anything, and I am covered in what used to be my windshield. So after some cleanup and a few spent hundred $ bills the lower pic is what I ended up with.

Good upgrade, but it looks like the hood is brighter than the rest of the car.

"No secondary latch" ? Please explain, you're making me nervous about my new hood....I am only using the factory latch.

had same thing happen to me very recently. no secondary latch. 100% sure the hood was closed tight. heck, I drove it for 3 weeks like that. took it out one day, did a hard pull in 1st gear and BOOm!. Only difference, I ruined a nice harwood cowl hood (unpainted at least).

at least it didn't take out your t-tops or leave you with fender damage!

my advice: Use hood pins with any fiberglass hood, always have secondary latch installed

BTW the new hood looks great. haha sometimes accidents happen and good comes out of it all in the end. cheers!

I took those pictures right before it was dark out and raining just to see how they turned out. The hood isn't actually painted at all right now it is still in white gel coat. Smells super strong like the resin is still trying to cure out of it, my painter wanted me to wait at least 2 weeks before he tried to spray it. As for the other guy running around with no secondary latch I highly recommend that you go and find one before you end up wearing your windshield in you lap like me and the other guy. It sucks *** let me tell you and if anyone had even been on the highway around me I would probably be buying them a new car along with my hood skinnies up front do not like quick braking

Quick Reply: No secondary hood latch= new windshield and sunoco
