I am not at all sure how to convert inches t MM but I got my 11" with 7.75" bs. The bump stop is REAL close at full extension....I mean REAL close. But once you sit the wheel down to ride height. You would need to hit one heck of a pot hole to hit it. I think I also heard somewhere that some guys had to grind that corner of the bmp stop off? Dunno Hope this helped at all.

Thanks allot for the reply! I measured the backspacing and found it to be just over 7.5". Not quite 7.75" but close. My rim makes full contact with the bump stop mount.

That would be the 7.75". Have you tried BOTH sides? Have you lowered the car? Reason I am asking is most times when you lower...the rear end can slide from one side to another!!! I would check BOTH sides for fitment. You might need an adjustable panhard bar if you dont already have one. And the only other thing I know would be to search for bump stop and see if anyone else has trimmed theres down.....OR I know some changed to the 1LE stop which I think isn't as large. Not sure on that. Keep me posted. Believe me the work will be worth it.

I did lower the car somewhat (SLP Level 1 suspension kit). Both sides are the same. And it is the well where the bump stop attaches that makes contact with the rim. I bought some sanding pads. I thought I would grind down the bump stop and the place where it bolts/screws to the body.
What is the 1LE stop?
Thanks for your help!

I beileve the 1LE stop is a little smaller and maybe a little harder or less forgiving? Not really sure on this

Nothing to worry about. My car with 18" x 10.5" Z06's and my buddy's SS with 17" x 11" ZR-1's you CANNOT install the wheel with the axle hanging, the axle MUST ebe supported. Niether of us touched the bumpers. I have 57mm offset and his are 50mm. With the little extra play you ahve you'll be fine. Like you said unless you go airboure this issue will never come to play.

I mounted the rim with out the tire on the rear of my car. This is a 2000 Trans Am (non-ws6). The rims are American Racing Torq-Thrust IIs, 17x11. The box states 46 mm offset. My understanding is that the 50mm Grandsport offset is OK as well as the 36 mm. Where 36 mm sticks outside the wheel well but reduces rubbing. So, I would think 46 mm would be OK.
With the car on jacks, and no support on the axle, with the rim mounted on the rotor the rim makes solid contact with the top portion the well where the jounce bumpers bolt on and thus won't turn.
I imagine that there will be few times where the wheel will drop down like it is. However, with a TA I would think getting Airborne can easily happen ;-)
Is this the wrong offset? With 50 mm won't that take the rim even further inside? Is the problem that the axle is not supported (except for the shocks etc.) and thus the rim will never get to this position driving.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

I Agree I have a 98 Z with 17x11 tt2's with nittos and with an adjustable panhard rod mine will clear the bumpers at full axle drop. just as long as you dont plan on jumping railroads or ditches you should be a-ok...

well i have 17x11 on the back. my car is on the zr1 wheels the og ones. i am not sure what the offset is in the back. you could only remove the tire when the body is up and so is the rear end. other wise if you try to put the wheel on its going to hit the bump stop. or what you could do is put a floor jack under the pumpkin and lift the car up. you shouldnt have any problems. is because when the car is lowered down the bumb stop is like middel of you wheel diamater. if you have any problems with e mail me i ll help you from personl experince. badls12000@yahoo.com

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I didn't have the intestinal fortitude to cut the bump stop mount off. But I did grind the frame mount and the bump stop down a few milimeters. At least enough to not make contact with the rim. Then I sanded everything smooth, primed, and the spray undercoat.
Rims and tires are great. At little vibration at first but that has worked itself out. Great handling too. I haven't got agressive enough yet to see if the tire will rub - for normal rational driving everything works great
