Default Got Bitten

Today I met up with Bitviper and bought well... a Bitviper antenna. It was nice meeting him and getting to talk to him. Anyway, so far I'm very pleased with the antenna. Good quality, good looks, and good price. Heres some pics I took when I got home. The second shows the rubber washers I got to act as a spacer between the antenna and antenna base (as recommended) The 3/8 washer with a 5/8 OD fits perfectly with no modifications.

ive always thought that a shorter antenna looks way better than the stock 24" one. but i agree with Scira it looks a little weird but in a good way, i have a 13" that i picked up off of Ebay for cheap but it looks like the stock antenna but shorter.

I took the stock antenna cut it to the length I wanted and then put a rubber end on it. Why spend mony when you can do this...

How do you go about cutting the factory one? I heard you have to cut it a specific way to retain it's functionality. Can anyone shed some light on that? Damn thing is huge..

On my Camaro I just screwed the antenna off and cut the antenna with a hack saw 8" tall. Then filed the tip round and stuck a rubber vacuum cap on the top of it and all done!

Hacksaw to length. I reused the stock ball at the end. Just pop the ball off, cut the antenna, shave the end to fit back in the ball, 5 min epoxy, paint black. TA DA!

It has to be cut by a multiple of the original length. For example, the stock Camaro antenna is 30" long, so it needs to be cut by multiples of 2, 3, or 5 inches.

I have the power antenna on my TA, and just leave it retracted. Shorter than your bitviper that way...
Reception is fine around town, and I mostly listen to my iPhone or talk to the wife when we're covering distance.

What? Seriously? I have taken my antenna off and it still works fine.

i have a semi broken stocker that when retracted sticks up about 3-4 inches because when i got the car 5 years ago the antenna didn't retract at all, a new mast fixed that but there is a piece of the old mast down in the motor which prevents it from retracting all the way. someone commented in one of my pics about my shorty and when i said it was a stocker they were like "thats cool, its a shorty when off and full height when it needs to be" LOL

don't mind the little ding in the first pic, its been fixed since then.

I have a power antenna too, how do you keep it retracted? Mine automatically goes up when the head unit is on.
