Default What Firebird/Formula/Trans-Am (non-WS6) owners are ready to buy a shaker kit?

I got my scoop into today that we're going to make the mold off of. Plan is to make a functional kit (shaker, filter, box, tubing, etc... no hood, you cut a hole in stock flat hood) like this...

Doing my best to keep the price down. I have no clue what the shakers will cost me at this point but all the little parts:

New Radiator Shroud (since lid will be gone)
Rubber Seal
MAF Extension
Nice Grille for the opening
Etc...

...might add up. Regardless, to keep costs down, it will come satin black (so you can put it on as is or paint it yourself) and will require you to cut your own hood (but will come with templates and another rubber seal for where you cut).

Now, the GTO versions (with hood of course) sell for $1400 and up...

http://gravanatuning.com/434/8/129/7...c_GTO_5.7.html

I want to make a kit that for under $500 you can have shipped to you and install on your own car within an hour. Before I get too deep in this, is there any real interest?

Also, if you don't want to cut your own hood you can get a fiberglass one from VFN...

98-2002 Stock Flat Bolt On Hood . Price=399.00 Weight=11 Ship: Truck Freight.

If there is real interest in them I might see if VFN wants to offer you guys pre-cut hoods (I could send them the templates)...

One more thing... F@ck those skinny and smooth shakers, the Bird's hood is WAY too large for that to not look like a pimple on a huge nose, I'm modeling it after the one and only Bandit style shaker...

Lines may be toned down some to fit the 4th Gen styling but I want the heritage to be there...

depending on price I would be all over it. Was planning on getting a VFN WS9 hood, but will have to wait to see what comes of this now

Something to think about and look into...are the factory hoods braced in the center? If so they bracing would have to be cut away farther than the sheet metal so that the shaker would fit flat against the skin of the hood. And if it happens to be welded were it needs to be cut then that could be an issue. Just something to think about and look into before you get started.

Yeah, I'll figure that out when we start product development. Worst case scenario we have to offer a hood with it...

I'm kind of curious as to how it would look on a Camaro. It would be "wrong" in the purists' minds (no Camaro came with a shaker) but who cares?! No Camaro came with a lot of the hoods that are aftermarket (Mecham, Ultra-Z, etc...).

I can't stand the rims and would have shaped the bumper differently but think overall it is pretty cool

I think it's a great idea, and I'd love to have one on my car. Unfortunately I don't have the money for a cosmetic upgrade like that, so you can't count me in as a customer unless I hit the lottery, lol.

Awesome idea though.

I think it would look cool, but the performance wont be there anymore. You will definitely lose how efficient our air lid already is. It does look cool though.
