I have 315's on my stock SS wheels.. Pics are in my sig.. I used to have 285 Potenza RE730's out back, and im going to be switching back shortly. 315's are awesome for straight line.. but you cant corner anymore.. rubs like hell... 285's are the best in my opinion

The height diffences between a 285 and a 275 40-17 are negligable as far as the speedometer is concerned.

Keep in mind, i havent had this car to the track at all, this is all street racing knowledge. The 315's in either brand hook up awesome.. much better than my 275's or 285's... However, they rub pretty bad if your car is lowered like mine.. but if you do some minor inner fender mods, and roll the lip of your outer finder, its not so bad... Otherwise, it rubs like hell. SInce i put new LCA's and a new APHR, it doesnt rub as much, but still not to my liking... With all the rubbing my tires have done, you look at the tire, and there isnt any major damage.. it hasnt even rubbed off enough rubber to make a difference, so if you can deal with that... then id say go for the 315's. Personally, im going to try Auto-X soon.. so i need 285's all around.. but im gunna keep a set of 315's on spare rims for the track <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" />

the range for the 315's is 10.5-12.5", is it safe to run them on 9" only??!!?
I am thinking about 285's!! is there ones from nitto??

Its safe.. but like i said earlier, there are rubbing issues. I dont think either company sells 285 DR's.. wish they did.

Hey Emperor of Darkness, you really should have at least a 9.5" wide rim and the SS rims is only 9" wide, so, got wit ha 285 or 295 is the widest you can go. Think they only make those in 19 inch rim diameters though.

I would think this largest you'd want to go. I have them on mine and I get a slight rub on hard downhill turns but nothing to worry about. I had 275/40/17 b4 these.
