Nikon D80. Very Pleased with it. IIRC it was around $1k when new. Same goes for the lens.

These were shot with a 12-24mm lens.

Keep in mind a lot has to do with the post-processing.

I use Lightroom for the most part. I can't be bothered to learn photoshop. It's way more complicated that I need. Lightroom is pretty easy to get the hang of, and get great results.

Off my Sony point and shoot...older model, vga600? don't remember, but any newer Sony p&s in the $400 range can as good/better than this now:

and I also have a D80, I haven't gotten any photos of my car yet, but I have a lot of racing photos, here's a couple:
(un-processed)

I use photoshop, lighthouse is real easy and nice to use...but I get PS for free, so I've only played with light house once. I think the flowers I did in light house, but I can't remember, it was the first few photos i took when I got the camera in January, that cluster of flowers is about the size of a quarter or maybe just slightly larger. I have an 18-55 and 55-200 lenses

I'm in no way a pro at photography or editing...I just enjoy playing with both

Thumbs up

  • Canon Rebel EOS XT 350D w/Sigma 17-70 lens, but I am still getting the hang of non point and shoot action. I use an older version of Adobe Photoshop Elements for post cleanups but I want to get Lightroom too one day.
  • Canon PowerShot SD550 my tag along camera for just about anything point and shoot.
  • Nikon Coolpix 995 my first digicam

I use the new Canon T1i... It's a GREAT buy for only $850 and shoots HD Video as well. Comes with an 18-55mm lens. The lens is ok I guess, but no where near the type of lens I'm gonna buy. Here's a few pics taken with it...

Amazing. I have a very nice camera (a Sony A350) and take great pictures but I know ZERO about post processing. I have got to learn about it.

In the mean time I might send you a few pics to play with!!!

yea, I edited them a little in Adobe Bridge... no photoshop. Although I have photoshop. And it's GREAT for Post Processing, but for little car meets and non-professional stuff, Bridge is quick and works fine. I basically added a vignette, and adjusted the saturation and contrast a bit. But it's not too far from the original shot... lemme see if I can find a non-edited picture i've taken with it...
