They use a gel that is put on w/ an applicator pad. You can buy a similar product in auto parts stores. The stuff they use comes in high volume from detail supply stores

I use Black Magic Tire Wet, and a foam applicator (it's black and yellow, and is made for tires). That stuff is awesome.

I get pissed when I see people with smiles on there face after a so called "pro" detailer has layered there tires in a thick coat of silicone. All it does is provide a 5 day shine that will attract dirt, brown your tires and degrade the rubber of your wheels.
Use products that are water based:
Meguiars endurance
Vinylex
Aerospace 303
Turtle Wax Formula 2001 Gel (make sure it's the same exact product)

To begin with a fresh tire I would suggest Simple Green, do not make a habit of it due to the fact that it contains a very small trace of acid.
Water the product down to a ratio of 3 part Simple Green and one part water. From there just spray your tire and scrub alot. Rinse each wheel after your done; chances are you will want to do this a second time. Even though this may seem like a pain, wait until you see how clean you can get that rubber.
After the first cleaning I would suggest you clean your tires with a more suitable cleaner once your dressing wears off, something like
PS12 (great yet pricey, no real advantage to buy in bulk)
http://www.properautocare.com/p2wheelclean.html
Sonus wheel cleaner (new to the market yet a great product)
http://www.properautocare.com/songelwheelc.html
Ef-Hi (best product I have used for the money; if a large container is purchased and astonishing cleaning punch)
http://www.properautocare.com/hi-c32.html
Eagle One AtoZ (as good as PS12 and alot cheaper)

I hope this helps, e-mail me at joedavulis@hotmail.com with any further questions.

Kerosene that with some color dye! a friend of mine works at a dealership and he gets the stuff for free and i asked him what was in it and he said the guy who gave it to him just added Color dye w/ kerosene to make it look different but that mess works for real.. it won't catch on fire or anything cuz that was my first concern so i asked people and they said kerosene is different from gas its harder to catch it on fire... it last weeks try it! but thats what the guy said so i don't know for all you burn out people just be very careful... it scared the mess out of me the first time i heard what was in it but i just tried it and it doesn't hurt so far anyways i can't believe i am still typing well hope this info helps

I don't see the point in that. If you can't handle paying 4.00 for a bottle of tire dressing and spend the time once every two weeks to strip down the tires and re-apply the dressing I think you should just leave the tires dirty.
