Default Shorty Antenna

Does anyone know where to find a good looking shorty antenna that will get good reception?

Just cut the factory one and glue the ball back on the end...Free shorty antenna and the reception is not much if any worse than stock.

this is what i got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SHORT...Q5fAccessories -i really like the way it looks, and you can get it custom made in any size you like between 8" and 31". while i dont like the antenna's stock height, personally, i dont like the very short ones either. they look wierd, and i dont like how large in diameter the bitviper's are. i ended up going with 17"s and i really like it. just unscrew your stock antenna and screw this one in and you're done, and there is NO loss in reception. i'd highly recommend it.

I just cut my stock one to half height and then repainted the tip black (since the little ball came off in pieces on mine). Looks ok, better than the giant RC car antenna look IMO.

And you dont have to deal with the annoyin sound you hear when you shut off the car and the antenna is "going" down but its stuck?????? .

Im gettin tired of that sound, would order one of those if it meant I didnt have to have that sound. So embarrassing when you get out your car and your antenna is making that sound. Everybody is like wtF?

HA! i know exactly what you mean. that is the ONLY reason i got the new antenna in the first place. ever since i bough the car it was stuck in the up postion yet evertime i got in or out of the car the motor would always try to push it up or pull it down. i finally decided to do the swap. i actually just took the base from out of my camaro and put it in the T/A, but now the camaro has no antenna for the time being, until i find a replacement base.

you should definitely get a base from out of a camaro, buy the shorty, and get rid of the power antenna. you'll be very happy you did.

In the meantime, is it possible to unplug the motor? Just leaving the antenna up? Would the radio still work?

it should. if i remember correctly there was 1 plug for the motor and then the cable for the antenna, so im assumoing as long as the cable for the antenna is hooked up you shoulbe be able to unplug the motor and still get your reception.

I cut mine to about 1' left and still get excellent reception. To be honest i don't even use the radio to listen at the stations. I just use it for my Ipod.

How do you guys go about "cutting" it? I'm thinking about trying this right now since I have 2 antennas. What did you use to glue the ball back as well?

I don't have access to a dremel or grinder, pretty much just an exacto knife, hacksaw, diagonal cutters and wire crimpers. And so far no progess.

get a bench grinder, cut off the little ball on top of the antenna. cut 6-8 inches of the main antenna - super glue the little ball to the tip of the newly shortened antenna.

its what i did and it looks great, and cost nothing!

Have you guys ever seen the one from southerncarparts.com It is shorter than a dollar bill. They say it is for a C5 zo6 they could not tell me if it fit the camaro but they thought it would fit. I ordered one i guess i will find out if it will fit on a camaro. http://www.southerncarparts.com/corv...nna-p-480.html
