Is there a way to fix tail lights after they have been melted?

Is there a way to fix tail lights after they have been melted?
Well not melted per-say but I have the black covers on my tail lights and the actual lens seems to be slightly caved in. Is there a way to heat it up and push it back out?
I love the look of the blackouts, but I've been pulled over three times about them and this last time I wasn't able to talk myself out of a fix it ticket (despite the fact I told him they just snap on he wouldn't let me take them off on the spot). Anyways so the covers need to go and before I spend money on new ones I'd rather fix mine if possible.
I was thinking maybe a heat gun and pushing from the inside with something?

i have a buddy that has the tail lights themselves caved in like you say, it looks like they come like that from factory since both tail lights look exactly the same, is there any way you can take a picture of the black out?

take a picture of the lights with or without the black outs?
here are some with
I'll some pics of the lights with the covers off when I get my car back today (getting some rear end work done).
I really like the blackouts, they go well with my black wheels, manta stripe, and black windows. But I don't want the excuse for a cop to pull me over anymore.

the heating up and pushing back out seems like it could work, if you remove the lense from the housing. and
then heat them up and slowly smooth it out. i might be able to test it out, since everyone is always asking
about it. i have like 4 extra lights laying around that i just experiment with anyway. i'll see what i can do between
now and sunday

Yup that's what I figured. My theory though is that they became that way with heat, they might be able to change back with heat. Worth a try if I have to buy new lights anyways I suppose

where there's a will...
i have no clue. but, its worth a shot. i'll check it out later today.
i started havig the same problems with my lights about a year ago, and i hadngt had covers on for a long time. and
my brothers are doing the same thing, and he's never had covers. i think its just a matter how much heat/ direct
sun light your lights take.

VHT > Covers. I don't think you will get them back to anything that will look satisfactory. Heating easily distorts plastic and it will be very difficult to get them back to the original shape.

heat + direct sun light -many cars without covers have the same thing happen. although it may speed up
the process if it is making them hotter, which i'm not quite sure i believe since i've heard of just as many people
without covers having the same problem. so i think it just depends on how much time your car spends in the sun.
