Default faux CF thread?

What happened to it? Continue it? No sponsors off this material so it shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone send me a link to wehre they got the Di-Noc stuff?

Lol wut ?? Mabe a sponser will soon be offering it or mabe it's competeing with the CF hydro dipping thread ? I would wait before starting another I'm sure mods have a good reason, there not known for random thread deletes. We may get lucky and it be a sponser thing here really soon !!

I'm sure it was pulling interest away from hydro dipping. Totally different processes, but nearly the same result, faux carbon fiber.

I just purchased some di-noc from ebay. Going to be putting it on my LS3 intake cover instead of hydro-dipping it. $20 > $150

sometimes I just don't get it. Using the Di-Noc is completely different than hydro-dipping; if that is in fact the reason for the thread deletion.

I just got my 12" x 48" piece of Di-Noc. I still don't know yet what I'm going to do with it. I don't think any of it will make it in the car. This stuff is very thin, and I'm betting it's extremely pliable.

So if anyone has ideas on random stuff I could use for feel free to post or PM. Keep in mind I'm going to be clear coating a few things just to see how it works out.

^^ wrap the lower half of your spoiler, sail panels, glove box, or the plastic panel under the steering wheel

Lower half of my spoiler: Not an SS, you'll barely see it.
Sail Panels: I've thought about it. It's in concept right now.
Glove Box & Drivers Side Under Panel: I think it'd look too tacky with just those done.

I'm thinking I might just do some simple wall art. I bet it'll look insanely good once clear coated. I'll find out this weekend.

^^^thats what i'll most likely do with mine, I feel it would be too difficult to wrap the center console and gauge cluster surrond

Those just look out of place IMO. I honestly don't think there's much I'd do to the interior at all. Now the exterior........

I understand the sponsors pay to have the privelage to sell products here, but that thread was a DYI thread and not trying to sell anything. After seeing that, there's no way I'm going to do hydro dipping but would rather pick up the faux carbon fiber and do the stuff myself.

Here are some pics of my hydrodip parts for reference. They came out pretty cool!

And yes, my door handle bezels are next.

Hydro dipping has alot of advantages that the wrap does not. First off being you dont have to spend the time wrapping things yourself, possibly messing up materials & possibly not achieving the final look your desired. Hydro dipping is great if you have the money to get it done. And on some parts with extreme contours its the only way to get a smooth surface.

I chose the 3M material not for cost(cause once you buy a bigger section price climbs pretty good) but b/c I wanted a "dry" CF look without clear coat or resin over it & a slightly textured surface.

That's why I want to do it, it's not over the top. Less is more.
