Looks awesome. You mentioned gluing in seat foam to correct for worn out sections. What type of foam would you use? I didn't see that mentioned and I plan to get new seat covers at some point and I'd like to fix a few problem areas.

Well once you get familiar with the internal construction of the seat its easy to see where it needs help. The sides particularily where you get in and out tend to get very flat. At fabric stores they have foam thats cut in varying thicknesses. You can get 1/4, 1/2 and 1 inch thick etc. I think 1/2 would be a good starting point. You cut it to shape on the side that needs to be built up and glue it down. As for the seat bottom, there is a grid of wires that supports the bottom foam. Often times the foam starts cutting into the wires and the wires sag. So I add several layers of faom directly on top of the wires to build it up and help lose that flat feeling. You can also try and hunt down a newer set of wires to swap in also.

What kind of material will be resistent to what my friends and I have dubbed, "The Fat Man Slide"? You know, that wear on the outside driver's bolster.

Most materials have a wear rating. I believe they friction rub it and see how quickly it wears, and then give it a number rating based on the results. You wanna slide, but dont. I have to constantly remind myself of this when I get in and out of the car. I would replace/rebuild worn/saggy foam while redoing the seats. Its the best time and it will make your new covers look that much better.

Thanks, man. I only have 67,000 on the 01 so the interior isn't awful yet. Never hurts to have info though.
