Dude, I just read through this entire thread from start to finish. This is fantastic! Great job cleaning up the old parts and repainting! Good luck with the motor build and getting it all back together. I bet you could see around 440-450rwhp with that setup maybe more. Its really great to see someone else my age doing this stuff too. Everyone i know my age thats in to cars would never do this stuff. all anyone does is just minor stuff, or I end up doing it for them cause they are helpless haha.
Now, I just need to get my new car to throw my motor in to. Can't wait to get back on the road too!

Well.. looks like i've run into a problem.
Piston to valve clearance... PTVC. I don't know whether or not I have enough room. And I may need to fly cut my pistons. Which I do not have the tools, NOR the money necessary to do so. I'm fucked.
I'm going to have to check PTV clearance somehow.. which would mean getting modeling clay, and lightweight checking springs. Which just means, more money, anddddd I'll have to wait longer. I'm about to rip my hair out.
Anyone have flycutting tools?

Perhaps send a PM to predator-Z, or PatG, or Texas Speed. They would probably have a good idea of what your PTV would be.
Also, are lightweight checking springs necessary to check the PTV? I'd be inclined to put on two rockers (intake & exhaust) on once cylinder, and turn the engine once by hand gently (with the clay of course). If it won't go, don't force it...but then again, I'm no professional engine builder.
And like what was said above, perhaps you could get away with thicker gaskets.
