I dont see what the big deal of NOT having a airbag is. you guys act like your not old enouph to remember having cars without them. I am 27 and this is only my second car ever owning that has one and I sit so far from the wheel with my long *** legs that it dosnt even help me. when i wrecked my 04 cavalier the airbags deployed but didnt even touch my face they are only designed to keep you from hitting the windshield or steering wheel and only good for head on collissions.

my 82 corvette was definetly less safer than this car, so was all my 80s trans ams and camaros. I can tell you i for one wont miss my airbag when I get rid of this monster wheel, the c5 corvette guys have the same problems with there big *** wheel. maybe I can sell my stocker as a boat anchor to someone.

kudos to you guys who feel that the airbag is to valuble to lose but i know as long as i wear myseatbelt properly that is the most important thing.

He's referring to the passenger side airbag so his concern is for whomever else is in the car. It's a valid concern imo and that's why i'm keeping mine, for a bit of 'extra' safety for my gf or kids when they're big enough to ride up front, which they almost are.

Not to sound like an , but they are ways around the issue that keeps the passenger side airbag functional! Just takes a lil more work. Just throwing in my .02cents, but again to each his own

why wouldnt the passenger airbag not be functional? if you install the resister the computer will thing everything is still factory and engage them.

also as far as the passenger bag goes they have less infront of them than the driver, the onlything my passenger airbag did in my cavalier was destroy the windshield. once again passenger never went far enouph forward to hit it. the most damage done to my car was cause by the airbags, it busted the windshield, screwed up all the molding around the doors and knocked the side windows off track and the mirror mountings. and by law since the airbags deployed all the seatbelts had to be replaced. actual damage not caused by airbags, 2000, damage including the airbag damage, 7500.

like i said kudos to to whoever wants to keep them.

I will have to say however that with the new cars and the more advancment in saftey and side and seat airbags I would not remove those those DO provide alot more protection especially from side impacts on the door glass.

but if my head ever goes far enuf to hit my steering wheel or windshield its probably not attached to my body anymore LOL

MY .02 on the subject. I had a Bonneville SSE, a person watching their boat trailer in their mirrors pulled right out in front of me on a 55 mph road, I was probably going 60. Like the poster above, obviously my air bags blew, I never touched them (no passenger). I had belts on and marks from the seat belts on my chest, but I never hit the bags. However the person I hit was in a Dodge pick-up, they were not hurt badly, but plenty bloody from hitting the side window. That's why I don't mind putting a small steering wheel in my Camaro, for the occasional times it gets driven, but I'm glad my Grand Prix has the side impact bags.

Hmmm.....very interesting notes! I think i may actually look into this more and may possibly delete the pass side too. Anyone know how to do this and not make the pass. side dash look like it's missing with the cover sitting incorrectly? I've seen the pass. side bag removed and the corners of the cover or whatever you wanna call it didn't sit right, like it was warped or something.

I wanna know this too because I'm in the process of removing my dash to delete the HVAC and the pass airbag. Going to be doing an aftermarket wheel soon as well.

The airbag is not connected to the dash. You can remove it seperately without removing the top "cover". The dashes you see with that area peeling up are just normal wear and warpage from the elements.

That makes sense! Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

Talking

To make it easier to get away with removing the airbag for steering wheel install, give a shout to crowder's customizing. The have a pre made resitor kit that works awesome , solder wires to the green and white. simple effective
Cost like $14.00. No annoying lights!

Remove the dash, disconnect it, and unbolt it. Done. Give yourself some time on it, there are a ton of 7mm bolts that have to come out.
