Saving a paint job (another teaser)
Ok guys, I'm putting up another teaser, cuz guess what.... I have both this AND the 68 Pro Street Camaro in my garage right now. Two LS1tech members are getting a full wetsand and buff and detail at the same time. Oh boy... got some long days ahead LOL.
Anyway here are some pics of this 4th gen that is also fresh out of paint and needs my help. The body shop thought it looked fine...
No clarity at all here....
Can you say holograms? The body shop guy needs to put the wool pad down.

Depends on how many hours go into it. Full wetsand, buff, paint correction, and detail starts around 800 and goes up fast. Typically takes the better part of a week or longer. But not everyone needs (or should get) the paint wetsanded. So, just a couple stages of paint correction is best for most people and much more affordable too.

What year is the Camaro?
I ask b/c if the year is 99-01 and he had the bubbling issues with the sail panel/roof, to see how much it cost him for that repair and then the repaint.
Good luck and have fun!

GoFast908Z: please stop kidding us with your "detail" pictures. What you did to that Firebird was no detail, that was a restoration.

No worries, I have always wondered what the total price tag would be. I think that most vehicles will need this repair - even though it's GM's screw up.
Maybe in a couple of years I might have this done. I don't have the bubbles in the sail panel (knock on wood) that are oozing, but I do see them developing. So maybe saving up for a while and then just getting the whole thing done might be in my best interest. Having a price guide is helpful as well.
Besides, Bakushan's NBM repaint thread in the Paint section looks gorgeous. Having that type of paint depth and not worrying about the sail panel BS might be worth it.
You're right about his "teaser" threads!

Man, I'd kick my body shops *** if my car came out looking like that. Either that or refuse to pay. That's terrible. Can't wait to see the final product. Maybe you can shift that hood down a bit for the owner too!

The car is a 98 so I didn't have the bubbling issue on my sail panel. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Jeff does with my car. Needless to say I wasn't at all pleased with how I got the car, but instead of having the shop fix it I took the car up to 908Z to get it done right.

I think we'll all be amazed shortly.

i looked over your NBM thread and that is amazing work. Nice job! Makes me want to wet send my car and do it. I have the PC and all the detailing materials I bought over the winter, figured I'd practice on the Camaro and just haven't gotten to starting yet. I wonder how my polo green would look with that level of effort.
