polish chrome cme???
has anyone tried polishing or chroming their cme? i took it to a chrome plating shop today and they said they couldn't do it. that exhaust parts can heat up up to 1200 degrees and could damage the metal or something. i tries polishing a small piece by wet sanding it and turned out ok. just wondering what everyone else has done.

The chrome shop just didn't want to do them and gave you an excuse - the tips get nowhere NEAR that hot.
That said, I remember someone showing pictures of either chromed, or so polished that they looked chrome CME tips. Not sure when or where, but I've seen it done.
I've tried sanding and polishing just the lips (since I painted the rest of the tips black), and wasn't thrilled with the results - they are cast aluminum, and saw quite a few pores in mine. It didn't look bad, but they will never be perfect.

i dont know. they showed me a motorcycle exhaust part that looked like it cracked and burned from the heat. they said that the customer wants them to pay for it. that's why they dont want to take that risk with mine. I'll try a different shop.
