OK guys, put in your 2 cents here. I am doing this because if I change my mind you guys are going to give me ****. So I figure I'll let everyone get a word in before I make my decision.

I am in the process of putting the new engine in my car, but this turbo setup is REALLY pissing me off and I'm starting to think the car is going to be a hell of a lot less streetable because of it. My quest for a turbo car may have clouded my remembrance of what I'm actually going to do with the car - drive it on the street.

I have the eBay PTK knockoff, which is actually a pretty nice system and I have fixed the little bullshit that was wrong with it, so it is a really nice kit. I have a 70mm turbo with it, brand new, and an eBay intercooler setup with piping and tubes and all.

The engine is an LQ9 that I won't be able to run too much boost on anyway.

With the turbo I'll have to remove the AC, convert the cooling to pusher fans, relocate the alternator, install solid motor mounts, and the system will hang really low so I may have to raise my car up a bit.

I still have to buy:
Dual fuel pump setup
Camshaft
Radiator
Pusher fans
Alternator relo bracket
Injectors
Springs
Probably some other nickel and dime bullshit too.

Now, I can probably sell my turbo kit and everything I have for it for a good bit. With that I could finish off the LQ9 with a big fat cam, maybe ditch my intake and get a FAST 90/90 setup, throw some nitrous on it and maybe do some other stuff. I could probably get out a hell of a lot cheaper, keep the car a lot more street friendly, still make an assload of power, and get it back on the road a hell of a lot sooner.

What do you guys think, talk to me here. I am lost. I really miss my car.

if all you have is the kit and you need all that stuff, I would say ditch it. You are not to invested into a turbo to be able to drop it and not take a huge cut. You have to give up alot when trying to make a cheap turbo kit, and if you still want to maintain a decent street car, then give up the turbo.

you will have to invest at least another 3k into extra parts, if not more for this kit to work. Plus alot more time. If i was you, I would ditch the kit, and if you are set on turbo then get your car running and save for a kit or all the parts.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I know it sucks not having a car, Been without mine for 8 months now.

OK, after talking to some friends and my friend who is building my engine, I've decided to ditch the turbo and go with a build LQ9 and nitrous setup.

I'll keep updating as we go, hopefully the car will be done sooner this way.

I agree with your decision.. turbo kits take a of time, planning, and money.. lets hear your plans on the new motor and go from there?

Stock LQ9 shortblock
317 heads cleaned up, ported, 3-angled, etc. Good performance head build along the lines of what would be considered a "stage 2" build.
Typhoon PP intake
Ported and polished TB
32lb injectors
150 shot from a wet nitrous kit
Dual valve springs
Unsure of cam, maybe an MS4 or Polluter.

well it sounds completely bad ***... you did the homework and planned this build out niceley and if you wanna go turbo then do as you did here.. plan ahead first..

I may have a deal with a friend of mine to trade him my turbo setup for a bunch of parts I need and some cash. Because of this, I may go with an F13 cam, which I think would work out great too.

cruise control box. It is right next to the Air Pump. Driver side under the fuse box.

Turbo kit is sold, bought some stainless headers, billet double roller timing chain, F13 cam, and looking for some injectors.
