Talking My new 3000k HID fogs

Well, as my frustrations continue with the DRL switchbacks, I decided to go ahead and relieve some of that tension and install something that actually works properly.

I went with 3000k because yellow lights up everything...that and I think 6000k is starting to get a little played out. Mercedes was on to something back in the '70s and early '80s.

I took some lousy pics with my cheapo canon. I'm not a photographer, and therefore I don't know how adjust all of the nifty little functions on it. So, no bad *** night shots like I see all the time on here...lol. The shot from behind A pillar is horrible. It shows a serious hot spot, but the light really reaches out there. Somehow the light bled back and onto the hood.

Included is a day pick of my new DRL housings that I tinted and cleared.

My car has been in dire need of a wash for about a week now...so, I know.

Try to enjoy, and don't take the 6000k comment too seriously

Kinda looks like you need to clean your lens with the way the light halos and is cloudy. I have thought about going with yellow fogs aswell.

That could've been it. Had just brought the camera out from the a/c, and into the muggy night.

The yellow looks pretty neat, still has just a touch of blue while looking at it. The ground ahead of you is definately yellow.

Looks like the ricers in my town that want to be "JDM". Although I can't argue with the fact that they do "light up everything".

IMO 6000K is WAY more ricer than 3000K, plus it's way too blue to be effective. I had 3000K in my fogs and my projectors for a while and it was great, but i missed the cutoff/color flicker of the 4300K so i put those back in.

I ran 5000K for a while and even those were way too blue it would strain my eyes after an hour or so of driving.

^ yep, this.

When I do my headlights, I will probably plan for 4500k. I don't like the blue; I don't mind a faint touch of it, but it's really gotten out of hand IMO. That and the lower the k number usually means better visability, which is kinda the point.

That's why I said "in my town". In Nor Cal almost all the ricers have 10K + headlights with 3K fogs. Plus, I'd be willing to argue the fact that any temperature HID would be better than the stock crappy headlights that came in our Birds.

Ok.

Played around with the camera and the ISO setting, so here's some new pics.

If you've been following the drl switchback thread, you can see how prominent the leds are. what you see is the amber dimmed, when flashed they go brighter than that.

I think yall are thinking 8-10K. My 6ks are pretty much pure white with blue/purple at the cutoff. And they Illuminate the road EXTREMELY well. I know 45-5000k is best for visibility but these arent far off.

But yea the 3k fogs are pretty cool. Never had any experience with them tho.
