Default update on my engine bay thread

I've been posting this up on Socal muscle and since alot you guy know my car I wanted to share what's been going on with it. I did all this for a few reasons. 1 looking to get in another Magazine once i get my power adder, and 2 i wanted to get ready for the past l.a invasion. its been a long process i just had alot of set backs and didnt finish the car on time for any of the car show i wanted to attend. alot of this work was done a month or 2 ago. i just wanted to keep you guys up to date. anyways as some of you know I've been wanting to repaint my engine bay for a long time. My engine bay has always been clean and nice looking, but i hated the fact that i had a few lil scratches here and there. I also didnt like the fact that the engine bays on fbodies dont have a clear coat on them.
here the before pics.

here's a close up at the lil scratches i had.

the body work turned out to be very time consuming. i hated every second of it. finally got all the holes filled in and rerouted the grounds like Datzneat once told me too. i removed
-front bumper
-pcm
-manifold
-coils/brackets
-valve covers
-headlight assembly
-coolant resivor
-battery
-ground wires
-detached the brake and clutch resivor
-window dash gard
-ac condenser
-ac and coolant hose that goes to the firewall/water pump.
-detached the fuse box

after about a week i finally got her ready for my painter to touch her up. i should be getting it done early next week. I should also get my mani/coils and brackets back from the paint shop soon.

here' a few more pics. i cleaned up the engine bay really nicely. i rewraped the hoses with clean blk tape, regrounded the grounds so that they are hidden, repainted a few parts like the headlight brackets, hood lock brackets, dash gaurd and redid the headlights with fresh paint. i also polished every single aluminum line i have under the hood.

it was a lil cloudy at first so excuse the quality.

ac lines

headlight brackets came out nice

dash gaurd

and headlights

some pics of the new tall valve covers.

these were a pain in the but to install with the coil brackets since there's no clearance. they also kept leaking on the psg side. i called the company who sold them to and they send out some new ones. so i get a 2nd chance on doing it the right way.I ordered a ls6 valley cover, extended msd wires, new tr55 plugs, coil relocation kit, and a k&n breather filter. i big cam would compliment those beefy valve covers

old set up from a few weeks ago.

a sneak peak of what they will look like on. these are the 1st set i returned. you kinda get the idea.
new set up.

I'm not a fan of chrome, but that looks sharp! Nice choices so far! About to do the coil relocation myself (in process of cleaning my engine bay up).

Keep at it! ! ! (more pics )

update.got a lil bit of work done tonight after my work out.
pulled the valley cover off.

here you can see the difference between the ls1<ls6 valley cover

ls6 valley cover in

I went ahead and did my plugs too.
kinda weird the all drivers side plugs were burnt but with a white shade and all the psg side were burnt/worn with a dark shade. I noticed the car has been bogging and jerking a bit at low speeds in the last few months. hopefully this tune up helps it a bit.

Coils mounted.

tomorrow i'll have to finish the valley cover. i just need to plug in the hoses and reinstall the mani. I also have to install teh valve covers and the coil relo kit.

I've seen it done for fair-weather-only cars done into the wheel wells...

Someone else put them onto the strut tower bar...

Very nice job thus far! Can't wait to see the finished product! I see you forgot to tape up the studs on the shock towers...have fun running the nuts back over it!

from your post #3, are there any tips (really, anything) that you can give for painting the back of the headlights?

thanks in advance.
