New Appearance Mod (Pix and Video)
New updated post with better links:
I've had A LOT of interest in my Front Firebird Plate Cover and it pushed me go even further for my next project...
What do you get when you take a length of Fiber Optic Cable, an Electric Motor, Foglights, a decal, a couple of blank CD's and some 5 Minute Epoxy??

A Kickass Color Changing rear Firebird Filler Panel!!

I basically took the above mentioned parts and made an Illuminator Box with a Motorized Color wheel...

After removing the original painted Firebird and Trans Am logo from my rear filler panel, I added a template decal and drilled about 400 holes in it...
Threaded the Fiber Optic Cable through the holes and glued them in place with 5 Minute Epoxy...

Now I know what you're all thinking...
How Much?
Well I got the idea from someone I met at a local Car show....
I didn't get the exact details, but it's rumored that he payed an outlandish amount of money to have it done....
I wanted to do the same thing on a very low budget of $100 bux...
After totalling up the price for parts, I was amazed to see it come out to just UNDER $50 BUX!!

Re: New Appearance Mod (Pix and Video)
Awesome idea. I'd like to do teh same thing but without the color change and just have it light up red like the taillights <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I'm not sure if I like it or not. Your work and idea was extremely creative though. Great job!
I'm sure if I saw your car at night I'd be very impressed. Keep up the good work. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

The amount of work involved will probably keep the copycat #'s low. (Although, it didn't stop you) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> J/K.
great job!
