Everyone, thanks a billion for all the info and pictures. Rob, the 50% looks awesome. Have you ever had any trouble around here with it? I'm thinking I'll go lighter than 35%. If I end up making it harder for myself to see, I'll be screwed.

Alright, final question! How much was this running you guys, and does every tint shop do it?

Even if you do get a doctors note... How will this work with the NYS inspection and registration stickers that have to be attached to the windshield?

My windshield in my "tow truck"/dd was tinted by the previous owner and honestly I hate it. During the day, the auto headlights stay on unless it is completely sunny with the sun high in the sky. At night, it may block some of the oncoming headlight glare, but it is difficult to see when there is no oncoming traffic. It will be coming off as soon as I can dedicate a full day to removing it ... it will take all day.

- Too bad Brian-SF, because that looks bad ***!

- I paid 100 bucks for mine.

- Thanks Jonas! It'll really change the look of your car if you go through with it.

- For city stickers and to avoid using razorblades, I use this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0Sq-Lqhn40

It works great. It's a clear, semi-sticky film that comes off easily. In one part of the video, it appears white but he didn't remove the protective paper that it comes with.

^^ I think he was more asking can you see the sticker through the tint? i could be wrong and that sticker thing is genius!

state park stickers would be great this way!
that way when family comes to visit they don't have to borrow vehicles

I have 20 on my windshield with 5 over it at the top. Never had a cop/ trooper say anything about the windshield. Having the strip at the top makes it look not tinted...
I had 35% but it wasnt dark enough for me, so I had it pulled and 20 put on. The sides are 5 and back windows are 5 over double 20. It helps a ton with glare and interior heat. Its basically like wearing sunglasses.

One of the best things about this is the privacy. A couple times already my girlfriend changed clothes in the car and didn't have to worry about people seeing her.

Well, hell! Think I'm gonna do it. Worst thing that happens is I don't like it and I take it off I guess. So, guys.. taking into consideration that my vision already isn't the greatest, what do you think I should go with? 40%/50%?

My fear is, I don't wanna come home with 35%, and then I can't even see out of it at night, ya know? Even if you guys can see "fine," my eyes are screwed up. Hmmmm

I got tint for the same reason as you, I am really sensitive to bright lights and often get headaches driving at night. The tint really helped and like mentioned it helps a lot with privacy. Unless the sun is shining directly in my windshield you cant seen in my truck at all.

The only time I have trouble is on strees with oncoming traffic, not much street lighting, and its raining. Any other time its fine, but you do have to pay attention.

That's hard to say. I would go to a tint shop and explain what you want done. Ask if they have scrap pieces around and apply them on. Try 35% first, it's right in the middle. Too dark for you? Go with a 50. Too light? Go with 20.

I have 45% on my windshield, 20% on the side windows, and 5 on the hatch. Its perfect for me. I wouldnt want any darker then 45 on the windshield IMHO. I used to have some pictures of it after tint, but I cant seem to find them. I can tell you though, that I paid 220.00 for REMOVAL of my old tint on side and hatch, and the NEW tint on all 4 windows using 3M film.

Definitely going with 45% or 50%. I'm thinking that'll be the perfect amount for functionality and still not be too dark.

Jonas I'd say you should do something similar. Lowest 35% if you don't want people to see inside
