Is Your Windshield Tinted? Come inside..

Hey guys. Quick couple of questions for those of you with tinted windshields..
First off, what percent do you have? How well can you see out at night? My main question... does having tint on the windshield help with glare? Reason I ask is my vision is VERY sensitive to sunlight and oncoming headlights.. I was wondering if it would help at all.
Thanks everyone

Giving you a heads up, you are going to get instantly pulled over for this in NY. The only way you can get away with tinting the windshield is to have a letter from your eye doctor stating your eyes are extremely sensitive to light. My friend's grandfather had this and yes it does help enough to have it done.

Thanks dude. Yeah I remember hearing of the doctor thing a few times.. might be worth looking into. What would be a fair percentage for something like this, 35% you think?

I have 35% on mine. It was a pain to see anything at night if the street wasn't well lit. Now with HID conversion the problem is solved but I still want to go with something lighter, 40-50% is perfect IMO.

Seems like 40-50 would be alot better than 35, my friend has 50% on his car and its just right imo. Interesting about the eye doctor note.. I think front tint is deffinatly going to bring out attention if your running illegal tint though and no Dr. note is gunna help you with that.

Uh my friends grandfather had a signed and notarized note that was given to a cop and the cop gave him the okay. As long as there is a proven medical issue with your eyes you can have the tint on the windshield.

Ah, my bad. I was meaning like it should be fine for the front window, but theres no one thats going to need 5% on the sides or anything and it might end you up getting more noticed for that as well.

I know in at least some states, like Louisiana for instance, you get a new license plate with different color letters so cops know and don't pull you over for it.

I have 2% all around (Highway Patrol Tint Meter...) and I have 30% on my windshield. Best thing to do is to just be smart around the cops. Like if you see them, drop the windows, also leaving the t-top shades off helps. But the glare is definitely reduced and the heat coming in the car is almost non existent. Definitely worth doing, especially on a lighter color car.

ya my camaro is 5% sides and back and 35% windsheld and its not the best on low lit streets at night or parking in low lit parking lots but other than that i love it and mines a hard top.
and i cruise chicago burbs with it and never had a problem, just drop the sides if u se a cop but most of the time my windows are down anyways.
its funny sitting in a car in direct bright sunlight and having someone walk all around the car and not know theres a person it in till u open the window lol.
and yes it does help with sun heat in the car also.
thats with the windows down

My windshield is tinted 35% and easily one of my favorite modifications. Having a 35% tint looks darker than it actually is from the outside because the windshield is at an angle. It's like the tinted t-tops, it appears solid black from the outside because of the angle you are viewing it at.
