Default Best way to clean the crud off my intake?

I have tried simple green and a tire brush and it did nothing. I can pick at it with my fingernail and it comes off, but I'm certainly not gonna do that.

You need something stronger. I use Super Degreaser from Meguiars. Do a Google on it.

There are other OTC type products like purple power or something VERY harsh like Bleech Wite or even Brake Cleen.

Most times I would rinse, drench the intake with the clean and get a brush with many but soft bristles and aggitate the crap out of is and rinse off with a hose.

Degreaser x 2 and agitate with a toothbrush.
I am a fan of Duragloss #401 All Purpose Cleaner and Duragloss #461 Ultimate Orange.

Be careful not to soak when rinsing as the extra water can find its way to the knock sensors and cause them to ultimately rust and fail.

Here is a before and after of a wheel well.

Engine degreaser and a firm toothbrush. Done it before and it worked great. Soak with degreaser and let is soak for 15 minutes being sure to keep it wet by applying more, not water. After the 15 min, soak it down with degreaser again and scrub it with the toothbrush in circles just like you do your teeth.

Also to mention in Rinsing, I always run the motor after cleaning up to temp should get rid of most extra water.

Thanks everyone, I will try the degreaser and a toothbrush.

That wheel well does look amazing! Wish I had time to do my undercarriage like that.
