Default What is everyones thoughts on interior trim (Carbon fiber, paint, wood trim, etc)

Just as the title states. I was thinking about changeing my interior but not fully sure what I want to do. I actually like wood trim. . .but on a sports car I don't know. have to see it first. Anyone here have done so and have pictures?

I was looking at a real rose wood kit (12pc) from www.exoticwooddash.com and it seems alright but then again I never seen a TA with the setup.

Whats everyones thoughts on that?

Just say no to wood.. its for wagons and luxury cars..

I like paint when it subtle.. and done well (ie. not too much of a good thing)

And we all know I like CF.. but on the type that molds to the parts, not the sticker type..

Vote for carbon fiber-you can never go wrong. But not too much of it.

Carbon Fiber. I am not a fan of wood at (excpet for the type in the Denali), and painting can get out of hand. I love Carbon Fiber. Get a good quality set. It will set off the interior of your car.

Hmmmm I like the carbon fiber and the wood well it doesn't look fugly but then again I agree it's best left for luxury cars/trucks. But that pic in the above post, it doesn't set it off badly I think. My exterior is black and interior is tan leather.

Trying to decide what would actually look best with the interior colors I have. I'm not a big fan of painting because if you ever get tired of it, you'll have to either buy new parts or repaint. Molds can just be removed.

Anyone have tan leather in their f-body with some interior tweaks?

Steer clear of the wood, you're not driving your grandfathers Roadmaster, you're driving a f-body. If you absolutely must change the interior stick with the carbon fiber or maybe a brushed aluminum kit. But that's only if you must, imports are the ones with the fancy interiors IMO. I'm leaving my interior plain except for guages, shift **** and a cd player. But that's just my 2 cents.

The leather covered interior of that TA was kinda cool! Didn't like the wood part, but the leather console was pretty slick...also, anyone notice they have 4 C5 seats in there?

I think its fugly. Replacing the rears with C5 seats was a mistake in my opinion.
If they would have stayed with the two tone, grey/feather grey, it would
have been nice, but that wood ruined it.

While I agree that a wood grain applicae looks out of place in a modern f-body, most 60's and 70's muscle cars either came with fake wook grain or it was an option.

That silver or grayish paint above. . .that looks good.

Hmmm.

I'm probably going to do either of the two, wood or painted. I actually like the painted look alot better after seeing a few now. The wood, ehhhh I'm somewhat old schooled on car style and like being unique. Carbon fiber is seen everywhere it seems and I do somewhat like the look but wood or now painted seems to blend better imo.

I really dig the painted though. My dash and all is black with carpet and leather seats being tan. I thought about maybe silver painted and with MBA dash piece that's silverish.

hmmm.

hmmmm.

btw Not looking for anything too bright or bling so to speak. I'm looking for interior stuff that would blend in with the current colors pretty well.

I agree, the wood is starting to look like the beyond old schooled stuff hehe. It's not a lincoln it's a F-body so ride well is out of the question, ride fast is in. I'm not completely into the carbon fiber because I see it everywhere, f-bodys, mustangs, imports, everything.

I'm starting to look more and more into the paint look but keeping it calm though like the one above. Only a few pieces maybe. But can't decide what color to go with.

The only reason why I want to change the interior some is because with my current financial issues this car is going to be a keeper. So I might as well put it to a point where I really enjoy it and ride it out.

I was thinking maybe take it to a few shows this year. . . not in any hopes of winning anything but alittle showing off and alittle drag racing on the side. I was aiming at 11s but with the new regs, I'll be happy to just hit 12.5 and be one of the few to have a 12 second street car and perhaps show some too.

Thanks guys!

Thanks man!

If you have the tan interior, you could POSSIBLY even match the interior paint with the tan seats and carpet. It would look different, and picturing it my mind, would probably go even better than silver. I'm just putting different thoughts into your head, though, understanding that you're more of the classic stylist.

If you didn't want to go tan, you could try a gunmetal silver - more subdued than mine, even, just like you said. It wouldn't stand out as much, and it would make your dash look more like black than gray. (Whatever you do, don't paint them black - the gloss black is perhaps the prettiest color, but it makes your whole interior look like trash. It's TOO good for the dash/other plastic.)

What's the exterior color of your car? Possibly go with that.

Just feeding you some possibilities! Good luck on deciding!

A carbon fiber/kevlar weave looks really good.
