I would keep your PC for sure for 3-4" pads and tight areas. No reason to dump it

I am usually between 2.5-4. I never go to 5 or 6 on the GG. Even compounding the MF system, usually set at speed 3 maybe 3.5.

Jeff/Jason - Seriously, have you guys discovered detailersclub.com yet?

PM me, I have a discount code for new members. Sorry if I sound like a hyped up internet saleman, it's just that I typically spend a ton of money on detailing gear so this site has cut my monthly detailing expenses by almost 40%.

Shoot me that code, worth checking out. I get most products from Detailed Image, but as I have a wholesale account there, my prices are um.....good. I can't say how good (not allowed), but I pay less than that for my 5L Sonax There are products they do not carry, so I'll have to check this place out. Thanks!

I like HD Polish and HD Cut. Still playing with them and seeing how they react on different paints. Jury is still out, but liking it so far. I wouldn't put it up against 85RD...it still reigns on top. But HD Polish is a good finishing polish.

This is the cost for the good equipment. If you want good results, best to invest in the good equipment from the start than spending half as much and get sub-par results and then upgrading later and taking a $ loss.

No, its not the Pinnacle. In fact I can't remember the brand, but its a fantasic mitt and is also now out of production which is unfortunate.

So the Pinnacle MF mitt and the DI Sheepskin mitt are both good.

I have used the Shmitt, introduced to me by a "reputable" detailer......and after the wash, marring was left behind. I would not use that mitt.

At first the Rupes seemed awkward and hard to control, (more power and 13mm worth of added throw will do that)buy the third panel it felt like the PC.

IMO, whatever that's worth, if you are going to upgrade from the PC the Rupes is the only thing out there worth going to. The small, if any, benefits you would see going to the new Groits, Megs or FLEX wouldn't be worth the cost of a new machine.

The Rupes is that good. It's hard to understand till after you've used it.

The PC is still good to have. There's some places that the 21mm throw is just too much and the PC works great.

Well that sums up the answer to that question.

Damn!

Might be worth checking out nevertheless. Some seriously good deals on there. I might need to contact DI, as my monthly product expenses continue to creep slightly upwards as my business continues to grow. I'll send them an email here shortly.

How about that new Turtle Wax Black Box? It's supposed to fill in defects like that? Think it will work (only temp of course, I'll just have to keep doing it every now and then)

Just bought a set of remanufactured OEM rims off eBay, painted for KIA Rio. Vendor stated he stripped and repainted. What's the best way to clean, maintain and shine a painted rim?

Get some good wheel brushes; Wheel woolies and daytona speed brushes are popular and I personally use both.

Pick up some good wheel cleaner, Sonax or Adams Deep Wheel Cleaner, I've used Sonax for a couple years now and just recently switched to Adams DWC.

Maintenance is the best way to keep wheels looking good. Don't forget about the barrels of the wheels. They are often over looked.

If you need to polish painted wheels you would go about it the same way you would the paint on your car.

To help keep the brake dust from clinging to the wheels you can wax them. They sell wheel specific wax but I don't know if its actually and different from the wax they sell for the car. GoFast, AWD or Rare probably know more about that.

The best way to protect painted wheels is to Opti Coat them but I probably wouldn't recommend that to someone who doesn't know anything about how to apply it. However applying it on wheels is more forgiving than it is on paint.

All wax/sealants can fill in scratches and scuffs and make them less visible.

However this is meant to be for small small stuff, this is the reason why you can wax a car and it will hide the swirl marks and some small lines and such.

However a scratch/scuff that large will not be hidden.

I have no doubt this has been asked before but with 112 pages it will be next to impossible to find.

I now have a set of TrueForged polished wheels on my car and want to take care of them. I realize they will require some work to keep clean but what about sealants? I was going to use Zoop but it has been discontinued. What other suggestions do you guys have that work well?

Also, I do not like the feel of microfiber towels. I know its a weird texture thing but still, I would like suggestions for alternatives for paint care. Are cloth baby diapers still a good option or are there better car orientated options now?

Have you used good MF towels? If you have used MF towels from Auto Zone or the like there's a HUGE difference. Good MF towels are soft and not grabby like the cheap ones.

Check out www.detailing.com

The white towels, which I consider a utility towel you would use to polish wheels are very nice.

My favorite is the grey towel with the black border. I use them to wipe off compounds/polishes.

The blue towel w/ the red border is good for interiors because the microfiber fingers are longer and grab dust/dirt.

There's a reason everyone uses MF towels now. However most don't know there are good ones and cheap ones.

www.microfibertech.com is another good site. I have not ordered anything from them yet but the site comes highly recommended by several people in this thread that know whats up.

As far as the polishing wheels question I will reply back later. In the middle of correcting a Mustang. I just fell in love with FG400!

I haven't ever looked into the matter much and all I have used are the cheap auto parts store versions. I've always worried that they all feel about the same so I never bothered to pay more for one.

As for the wheels, I just ordered some Adams deep cleaner last night to clean them. I have a polish I want to try. I am more concerned about sealing them. I forgot to ask that in my original post. What to do about sealing the wheels after they are nice and clean and polished.

You won't be disapointed w/ Adams DWC. I did a review on it a week or so go. Also their metal polishes are great. It's my go to.

Definitely check out getting some good MF towels. If you buy from one of the sites I listed above they aren't that much more, if any, than what you pay at the Auto Zoo. Autogeek and similar sites sell the same MF towels as detailing.com and MFtech but for much more.

I wish I could help you on sealing the polished wheels. I have talked to Gofast in the past about opti coating them but I've never done it. Flitz says they have a sealant in their polish. I used Flitz several times but just wasn't happy with it's performance and always went back to Adam's.

I have seen Zoops before but have no experience with it. I'm sure there is someone in this thread who can give you good info on it.
