Wanted to pass along I used FG400 tonight for the first time. It's a little different than the SMAT that I'm use to but with tips from GoFast I'm pretty confident I can adjust.

Here's two quick pics of the car I'm doing now.

Before

After

This is just after compounding! Hang on to your socks after the polish hits!
Big thanks to everyone who turned me onto FG400. Believe the hype!

Opti coat would prolly be the best for the wheels for sure, but I'd use a good quality sealant if you can't get Opti coat.

That looks great man

Ok so I'm sitting next to an 07 vette today at the car wash wiping my car down when I realize just how bad my 13 yr old paint on my hood is it just looks like I'm smearing old wax and whatever else around. For the sake of not reading through this entire thread can someone recommend a good way to strip all that old wax and clear coat sealant bs or whatever it is that won't come off just by washing. Thanks in advance.

Wash it using Dawn liquid soap.

Dawn, car shampoo + all purpose cleaner, or IPA for wax and sealant stripping.

That's what I started using in my foam gun for a pre soak when I'm doing a correction. You get the benefit of the the Dawn and the APC to cut any LSP's and the car shampoo for suds.

Right now I'm using Adam's car shampoo. I've read a lot about Meg's Hyper wash and how sudsy(is that a word?)it is. I'm going to pick some up and try it out in my foam gun.

I'm getting mixed reviews on the diluted IPA wipe down after compounding/polishing. I was going to dilute 50% IPA 1:1 with water, and then wipe down the car prior to wax/sealant.

Good?
Bad?
Indifferent?

An IPA wipedown with get the job done. Dilution ratios will vary according to IA percentage, and personal preference imo. (My IPA tends to be a bit on the lighter side, but I typically perform a wash after compounding/polishing) If you're concerned about lubricity, etc, pick up some CarPro Eraser. Essentially does the same job, just not nearly as cost effective as Isoprophal Alcohol.

Here's a good thread on IPA's,

I started using CarPro Eraser and like it a lot.

Just got a 98 Z28, the silver stripes on the rear spolier seem to be stained, almost looks like mold stain. Any suggestions on what product to use in attemp to remove the stain from the stripes?

Thanks,

TLH

Anyone have any experience with this stuff. Normally if 3M makes it, its good stuff.

GoFast, any thoughts on CG Blacklight? I've never used it before, but it has piqued my interest as a possible pre-LSP, I like to try different things but would like to know if it's worth getting or not.

Blacklight is ok.....it's too thick for my taste though and doesn't spread very well. But it does look good.

Where's the cheapest, hopefully bulk, place to buy 3M green painters tape? Is 3/4" (18mm) all you really need?

I like blacklight a lot, it is more of a glaze I think, but gives amazing shine!

What about application by a DA? I think that would help with the spreadability.

Same here. It has great filling capabilities, but most of my clients are interested in paint correction, so BL/V7 have little use to that audience (I've been pushing permanent coatings HARD!). Anyways, I use BL/V7 on my wife's 2012 Camry that she daily drives. She nanny's full time, and it's a detailer's nightmare type of care. Needless to say, I've gone through about 5L of 1Z Cockpit, 1Z Deep Plastic, 1/4 gallon of 303 Fabric Guard, the list goes on lol.
