GoFast908Z,

Anything special I need to know caring for a single stage paint? Wanting to polish my wife's daily driver '05 Toyota 4Runner. I've got some Blackfire Wet Diamond on the way for a sealant but I'm trying to figure out a good polish. Paint isn't in horrible shape but does have a few light scratches and swirls.

I bought your recommended list from autogeek except for the wash mitt, out of stock.

Thanks.

I've never heard of the stuff....but if its been around for decades, thats probably why. No product I use is more than a few years old....I keep up with the latest and best products/tech in the industry.

So if it is an "old" product is bad then? Okay...Maybe you could try it sometime its an excellent product. Ive used a lot of similar products and end up back to it. Considering it how old is I believe does play an integral part on keeping my car looking as good as it looks right now. If it has stayed in the market for all this time I think its because it is competitive based on the results when used.

Thats not what I said at all.

I'm just saying that newer technology creates better products. In ten years of doing this and several years on the pro forums, I've never heard of this stuff...there is a reason for that. I'm not saying its a crap product, I just doubt its on par with other current products.

Okay. BTW, the product's formula has been improved. Not the same as the 80s original. But, hey, if it is not in the professional forums! Thanks for you input, appreciated. Keep the thread going!

I am redoing a 77 Ford pickup right know. It has a Chevy 350 making 380rwhp. I chopped the top patched the rust. I have pulled out all of the inside and bought new everything. The inside dash is painted and cleared not bugged yet. The I side doors are done and all of the bed and inner genders are done. The outside is primered. So all I have to do know is color and clear the out side. I was wanting to know how long I need to wait before waxing on a new paint job?

here's a thread that was posted recently about a c5 with a new paint job. post #2 has some info about dealing with that.

I have did 3 coats of primer, 3 coats of color, and 4 coats of clear. The paint looks 9.9/10. Once i lightly used 2000 wet before buffing and buffed to a shine. How many times should the car be good for paint corrections? Does it take off a whole layer of clear?

How many times depends on how aggressive you get with it. With careful correction and proper washing techniques you can enjoy MANY years of that paint. I typically don't take more than 2-3 microns off with each heavy paint correction, and usually less than that.

Well a "feel" can be deceptive. You need before/after readings with a paint depth gauge to be sure.

Fast converted me to black fire wet diamond. It is a paint selant. Last long and has just as good shine. It also dries quicker so less time waxing

lol nice. I agree he converted me as well as that is what i currently use. I love it but i just saw the adams video where they are applying the americana and it really looked good. then again my car is currently dirty right (rainy weather)

i will more than likely just stick to that and try out their new product crystal seal that goes over wet diamond to get an even better shine.
