Gofast-

Have you had any experience with the p21s polishing soap? I just picked some up and got to try it out yesterday. I have my thoughts but just wanted to see if you have had any experience with it first.

Yes, its great stuff. I always follow it with Chemical Guys Metal Shine on a MF towel to give a higher shine.

Yeah it definately wasnt a one step polish for high shine polished aluminum. Tried it my forgelines and it actually took some shine off. Had to follow it up with some white lighting after. Seems to work really well on harder metal like stainless exhaust tips, and chrome. I wonder if using a MF instead of the sponge would work? Will have to try it today.

I had no intention of buy the 32 oz. bottles of 105 and 205 that day at advanced but saw them there and grabbed them up before they were gone.

Check the post above yours
If they are chrome, you'll be better off with Mother's Chrome Polish and #0000 steel wool.

What were they charging for them? Curious how much a local store marked them up.

Cant remember exactly but it was between $32-$36, so no real markup. It cost me about $15 for shipping from AG so even at $40 a bottle it would be about the same.

What have you heard about M101 and have you had a chance to use any?

Jeff- Bought the wife a 2012 Camry LE last night in magnetic grey metallic color. Car was purchased brand new. As part of the Toyota Care warranty, I get free oil changes/etc for the first 25K miles. I was told to bring the car in every 5k miles for tire rotation and general maintenance. I was also told they would service the exterior of the car with what they referred to as "the protector" paint treatment. It was described to me as an additional layer of coverage over the clear coat (kind of thought of it as an opti coat type treatment, maybe I'm wrong..). I'm very hesitant to let them perform these treatments as I had planned on opti coating the camry when the weather gets nice here in Chicago. Have you ever heard of this "protector" crap? Is it marketing bullshit? I googled it and found this old hilarious video. Watch the whole thing if you want to laugh towards the end...

Is this some type of package that they are selling you or did it com with the purchase of the car (in which they conveniently bundled the cost to you anyway)?

at pepboys I think 105 was 32.99 and 205 was 27.99 or something close there was a 3-4 dollar difference in the two but 32oz not bad deal!

Supposedly, it's all included in the Toyota Care package which is included with the sale of every brand new Toyota. I've seen the "protector" symbol before but never heard any feedback on it.

Well after calling some local places near me, the common response was confusion when I brought up paint correction. I decided Im going to try to tackle this on my own. I figure for nearly what I would be spending on labor, I could buy my own products and experiment. How does this kit fare for a noob with an NBM car with swirls, fine scratches, and light hazing? I really want a nice wet look to the car minus the swirls and slight imperfections..

Oh wow....watched that video and I almost passed out after watching him work on the hood.

Bottom line....this is a "paint warranty" or insurance, NOT a "REAL" product for protecting the paint. The tar/paint/acid/fire test is a dead giveaway of the lies in a bottle they are selling.

Do NOT let them wash your car (ever) or apply this stuff to it. Correct it and opti-coat it at your first opportunity, don't wait for the weather to get nice. Protect it now and enjoy the benefits of the coating during the VERY harsh winter months.

Yeah, its good you stayed away. Any detail shop that is confused by the term "paint correction" is not a place I'd EVER take a car I care about.

I would go with either of these kits. IMO, works better on GM paint.

yes listen to gofast on those two kits. I got the meguiars one about 3yrs ago and I love it. But honestly either kit (menzerna or meguiars) are awesome. I'm going to be using those menzerna polishes on my next detail (soon) on my car. i Have the menzerna SIP already and I'm waiting for the other menzerna polish to get here.
