Junkman/Gofast, do you have any tips on using Opti-coat as a beginner, besides the given instructions? It's going to be applied to the car's paint.

Actually, it does. There's a "search this thread" option beside the thread tools.

I don't think there are any better tips than following the instructions to the letter.

I just bought a Gilmoure foam gun, do I mix soap and water in it or just the car shampoo? If I do need to mix soap and water should it be 50/50 or what? Thanks

Can the opti-coat be used on fresh paint after a few days of curing in the sun?

First, you can't just use any soap. You need to use a soap that is made for the foam gun like DP's Extreme Foam Formula. Second, you use 2 ounces of soap for every quart of water. Then you use the metering device on the foam gun to determine how much foam you want to create. Make sure that you read the direction that came with your foam gun.

How would you know if the paint has fully cured after only a few days?

Let me put it this way- does the paint need to be cured before applying it?

Big time. You NEVER seal fresh paint until it has cured. That would be catastrophic to your paint job.

We always told our customers to wait a minimum of 30 days before sealing fresh paint.

... and that time will vary, depending on the materials used by the painter, environmental conditions and whether of not the paint has been baked to speed up the drying process. What I tell people to do is only go by what the person who painted your car tells you. They should know better than anyone. If they don't, they should have never been painting your car in the first place.

Their Super Soap works very well with the foam gun. This is per me and Michael Stoops.

Easiest way to clean an engine bay that hasn't been touched in 6 years? haha. I'm just nervous about applying a product and hosing it all down since even though i know to protect the computer, there are electrical connections everywhere.

As long as you cover the alternator and any exposed computers, you should be okay. Never use a high pressure sprayer or water. Most of what you do should be elbow grease and Simple Green. I use a myriad of cleaners depending on what I'm cleaning but Simple Green Max is my main go to. Your water pressure should be no more that a gentle shower.

I'll have to give that a try. I'm loving my Chemical Guys washes/Foam Cannon combo right now. When I'm looking to totally strip the LSP, I rinse the car, spray a few mists of Megs APC+, then foam bath/2 bucket wash. Car turns out great everytime!
