Wont work unless you get a Vintage air unit, ours are cable operated.

Complete HVAC unit, they make drop in kits for Older cars, have their system in my 69. The swap would not even be worth it, unless youre doing the dash and cluster with it.

It looks like this

I honestly cant say what is involved but it will be 99% custom everything to make it fit. I dont even know if the vettes dash is around the same size as the camaro. I think it is slightly smaller.

To retro fit the Gen IV unit you have to custom make brackets and run new lines and find a way to wire in the C5 controls to the EVAP unit. Would be cheaper to just buy a used C5 probably.

easiest thing to do would be to just replace the *****.

interesting concept tho on the a/c controls. dual zone never made sense to me in a 2 seater anyway. You would need a LOT of custom work to make this type of thing work.

I have a parts car I'll probably be digging into after the holidays. it has 2 good ***** out of 3. I can probably sell the whole control module.

(it's a 98 v6 car)

drop me a line if you're interested and I'll let you know. I have a guy that MAY want to buy the whole car, but i might decline since there's some parts on it I want for my own project.

The Gen V unit is a really nice hvac/ac unit. Its compact enough to fit the entire unit inside the car under the dash. That effectively eliminates the huge bulky factory box completely and leaves you with all that open engine bay space on the pass. side. Plus it lighter. The factory LS1 A/C components like the dryer, compressor and evaporator are all compatible. I looked into this and talked to a Vintage air rep at a show about the swap when I had my 94. The Vintage Air rep also mentioned that I could send the OEM GM electronic HVAC control box I wanted to use to them and they would wire it to run their system....if I couldnt get the wiring on my own. I was really impressed with the output, compact size, and the opportunity to retain AC while losing weight and losing all the bulkyness of the factory system.

I think for an entirely custom wire job, control module, a/c box, all your refrigerant and programming and stuff, you're probably gonna be out $1000. You would be replacing the entire a/c system in the car save for the compressor and other engine side components, that's what he's saying.

Thats a loaded question. It all depends on your ability and skill. If you dont have basic to moderate wiring skills, the ability to fabricate new mounting points for the hvac box, have the skill to blend factory aluminum AC lines into new ones to meet the new connection points in the car....at the very least, this will be very hard job to tackle. If you are skilled in those areas, this would be a breeze, with the hardest part being, removing the factory components from the car. Hope that answers your question man.

Everything under the hood stays, under the dash will be all the custom work. Call vintage air and tell them what you want to do, they will steer you in the right direction.

Won't work unless your level of expertise is up there. Just get new ***** for your stuff and dont worry about. Really want a dual climate control? Buy a car that has it stock is your best option. My Cadillac has it and I leave the passenger control off, it really is not needed and actually seems silly.

Surely there is another, more common GM model with the desired climate control but single climate control rather then dual...your just wanting the display right? Maybe look into what the HHR's climate control display....pretty sure my ex gf's had a single climate control in her's and digital display...similar to what your asking for.

The problem remains, with **** controls you are physically pulling cables. The climate units are merely control boards for some type of actuator system that makes physical movements based on what the controller commands. You would need the dash control and all under-dash components and a lot of time and skill to make this work like stock. I agree though the digital readout does look nice, but I kinda like the simplicity of the ***** myself.
