Default Chromed Out Pics

I've done some searching, and found some good input, but I'm wanting to see some close-up of different things members have had chromed plated. Of course Robbie(97ramsst) is a prime example, I haven't found any real close-up shots, almost all pics are the entire engine bay, so ***** out your bling and list up what ya have chromed so I can get some ideas.

I considered chrome on my half shafts, but ended up doing powder coat chrome instead. I was turned off chrome by the potential hydrogen embrittlement that could weaken the aluminum. They are a load bearing part of my suspension, and having them fail would ruin my day.

They don't have nearly the shine of real chrome, but it's a durable finish.

The powder pro, SilverGhost, did the powder coat on them.

Just to add real chrome is fine for plenty of parts, and I would have done that on a steel part or a non-aluminum suspension part.

Here's my engine bay, not ALL chromed out, but a few nice pieces. Parts that I have installed but aren't in the pictures are - throttle body and tb cover, radiator shroud, battery cover, and a few others.

i like this thread idea, a topic that doesnt get talked about to much, alot of parts can be polished, the issue i had with that was the upkeep on polished parts, chrome seems to be a better option, i also think the pc idea is great doesnt have the shine but looks good and easier to keep clean.lpe can you shoot me some info on were you got your work done? i know in cali and what not there are tons of chrome shops , here in ohio there are very few, what you have had done looks great. also a question i had was someone told me you could chrome plastic, i dont see how that is but if anyone has info i would love to hear it

Working with Advanced Plating in Tenn. They can polish, plate and powder. Incredible work, but spendy.

You can plate plastic. I'm in the industry for OEM parts where we offer plated plastic trim (grilles, body side moldings, etc). Process is virtually identical to plating metal... There are also alternatives in vacuum metalizing but is different entirely and wont be as durable.

Any good chroming place is costly. I looked at Nu Chrome, Allied Metal Finishing (which did the work on the Split Personality Corvette project):

Both are in Massachusetts.

Also Paul's Chrome, and Frankford Plating in Pennsylvania. I also heard they all can drag their feet getting the finished product shipped back to you. I've heard they all do top quality work. I got quoted an estimate of $400 for triple plating.

I pretty much have all the chrome covers, etc., so I was wanting to get an idea to go the next step with individual parts, etc. that could be chromed and some results of what others had chromed.
